Eighty years ago, in a large city of Lankhmar, a clan went down in the mists of history. The Black Dragon Clan was a samurai clan, known for their Dark Hand Style of fighting, that supplied many skilled warriors and military advisors. Secretly, Black Dragon was also a ninja clan of great antiquity. Its leaders intended eventually to topple other clans and seige control of thier empires and lands.

However, enemies of the Black Dragon Clan discovered that the clan leader was a ninja lord. They assembled evidence against him and presented it to the Emperor of Lankhmar, who responded by trying to destroy them by sending a large army.

The Bd's who survived the attack fled to the distant reaches of the empire, land surveyed by a long-dead clan lord and never claimed or developed. They used their ninja skills to build a fortification at the top of an inaccessible mountain. Allied mages and illusionists improved the citadel, making it dangerous for other spellcasters to approach.

In years since, the Bd have acted overtly as a ninja organization. They sold their services to whomever would pay for them. They became adept at their maneuvering skills, killing agents out past the loose cordon of other clan spies and guards, and smuggling objects in through the same lines. Many of these techniques involve the use of the clan wizards. There were a disproportionately high number of spellcasters among the Bd's, and many of their best warriors were spellcasters.

Naturally, all Bd ninja traveling in the outerworld adopted covered identities that did not associate them with the Black Dragon name. After years had passed, their ninja lord, Hanako Yung, died of natural causes and left the clan to his advisor and best student, Draven Kyoji.

Draven risen the clan in power as well as in name. The ninja were known by thier stealth and agility giving them the name, Shadow Warriors. Black Dragon became the first known ninja clan throughout history, as most stayed secretive.

Draven mysteriously became missing and never seen again after the clan was risen in power. Three years, after Dravens disappearance, the clan began to take a downfall, then perished. No one knows why the clan ceased to exsist afterwards.

The clan was secretly handed down from one ninja to the next, but not one wanted to take the risks and responsibilites of uprising the clan once more.

One kunoichi, a woman who had dedicated herself to the oriental arts and skills, decided to take upon those risks and responsibilites of uprising this clan in rememberance of her missing master, Draven. She became the first woman to attempt to uprise a ninja clan after the terrible fall that had taken place years ago. Athena Nightshade, better known by her nic, Chimera, is slowly trying to create a new "cover" clan with the same ninja status, and to bring the name back to the ninja warriors.
