Let's Make a Character..... Getting Started

Characters that you have played offline are welcome in the game.  Just remember that all magic items, special abilities and powers are subject to approval.  Also there is a 5th level limit on new characters.  Information on odd magic items, classes, and powers may be requested to be sent via E-mail as not even we have all the books.  If your new to AD&D it may be wise to start with a basic character out of the Player's Handbook.  It is a good idea if you plan on playing AD&D that you purchase the Player's Handbook from your local book store or comic book store.

Our game, at times, can have a more "adult" theme to it as well as darker overtones.  Because of this we are asking that no one under the age of 18 join the game without contacting either LyGabriele or Glithcalis and talking to them first.  We ask this because we do not wish to have something come up in one of our rooms or sims that could be offensive to younger people or their guardians.  This is only to protect us as well as you, nothing more.  We do understand that many under the age of 18 are mature enough to be able to "handle" such things. That is why we ask you to contact LyGabriele or Glithcalis and talk to them first.  The DM Staff reserves the right to remove temporarily or permanently from our game anyone who we see as acting imature, or in a manner not becoming to our game.

All character classes, races, and kits are acceptable, however, NO player character may be a race from the Monstrous Compendium books.  Even though we are a 2nd Edition game, there are parts of the books that are not allowed.  The newer Player's Option books have shown to me that they are incompatible with the style of game we run online.  Proficiencies purchased from any of the option books should still follow the Player's Handbook style (IE: cost proficiency slots instead of Character points and the scores are based on the abilities).  Advantages, Traits, Disadvantages, and like items from the Skills and Powers book are not allowed.  The sub abilities in Skills and Powers are allowed but remember there is only a 2 point shift from the base score allowed.  Psionics will be played based on the Skills and Powers rules (IE: MTHAC0 and MAC will be used).  Characters will not be allowed if they are generated using the character point system.  Abilities should be rolled using one of the options found at the start of the Player's Handbook and skills and proficiencies should be chosen based on the number of slots given to your character's class.  No ability score should be left below a score of 9.  We require the because an "average" stat is from 8 to 10, and a hero, as most PCs are, is not going to be an "average" person.  All characters need to start with their XP at the bottom for that level.  Also, if you wish your character to try for a wild talent you must get with a member of the DM staff to verify the roll.  This is the only roll we require you to visually verify with the DM staff because of how hard it is to gain a wild talent.  Please submit backgrounds for approval, especially if you are wishing to play a Calidairian native.  If you have a question about something in the new option books and wish to know if it is allowed, please E-Mail Glithcalis and put in the subject "Options Question."  Also some Tech will be allowed with special permission from the head DM.  Ravenloft and Dark Sun characters are not allowed as there are no known way of leaving either of those places.  Glithcalis has created some extra races specific to the Calidair world for you to try.  For information on additional kits and classes start you look here: Kits

Please copy and paste the following character sheet to an E-Mail or Txt file and send it to LyGabriele.  Our goal is to approve a character within 24 hours.  But please know that we can't always accomplish this.  Feel free to E-Mail LyGabriele to ask about the status on your sheet after 24 hours.  Also be aware that if you choose to play a character above 1st level and too many mistakes are found, you will be asked to submit a 1st level character only.  Also be aware that we reserve the right to accept or deny any character sheet or player with or without an explanation.  You can be asked to leave the game if you refuse to follow the rules or if you harass other players.  Any character in the awaiting approval or awaiting sheet status can not play in a Sim or enter into any kind of combat or other situation that would require a sheet to verify if the skill/item/etc is with the character unless prior approval by the DM running the sim/room is gained.  This means that one DM could let you play without an approved sheet and another may not.  This is an incentive to get your sheets in as soon as possible.  This game is here to have fun and we will not tolerate someone ruining the fun for everyone by acting immature.
