It's time to rewind the Page3.com clock to a year when the three R's hit the headlines - Royalty, Rotten and Red Rum.

It was a big year for the Queen - Silver Jubilee spelt street parties and free celebratory mugs for kids.

And who tried to spoil it all? Mr Johnny Rotten of course.

The Sex Pistols' less than patriotic take on God Save The Queen came at the peak of Punk - but mysteriously never hit the Number One spot as radio stations snubbed it and stores banned it.

There was no such campaign against that wonder horse Red Rum who became champion of Aintree after completing a hatrick of Grand National wins.

It was also of course the year Rock 'n' Roll lost it's king with the death of Elvis Presley.

TV fans had only three channels to choose from.

Saturday night's entertainment could mean a choice between The Val Doonican Show on BBC1, The Best of The Muppets on ITV or The Lively Arts on BBC2 - Kermit and co for us then.

And there was no trouble getting an early night - closedown was usually around 12.30am.

On a lighter note studies were being conducted to find out if women motorists' ahem driving abilities were affected by the pill.

And Liverpool star Kevin Keegan's secret of success was revealed - wife Jean sported a lucky pair of red frilly panties at the future England manager's home games.

But the biggest sensation of the year was of course the Page3 Calendar - guaranteed good news with some fabulous features.

It was the year of Vanya, Gillian Duxbury, Nina Carter and a host of beautiful babes.

Enjoy!
