Chapter 4:  Inside The Portal

The two looked around in amazement.  Never before had they ever seen anything even remotely close to what they were looking at now.  Large bubbles and small bubbles, all with different images in them.  Most of the bubbles were floating on a thick watery substance, and some others were floating through the air.  They ranged in size, but varied little in shape.
"Whoa, we didn't eat anything funny last night did we?" asked Lichram.
"Yeah, this is cool." replied Stant.
"Look at all of the different bubbles.  I bet you could go anywhere from in here."
      "Yeah, but where IS here?"
"I don't know, your guess is as good as mine."
"Lets have a little look around."
"Ok.  Hey, check to see how solid that liquid is, Stant."
"Hmmmmm.  It's not really liquid.  It's solid, but it moves like snow beneath your feet."
"Well, what are you waiting for then.  Lets go."
      "Go where?"
      "Any where.  Explore, be adventurous."
      "Heh, I'm game."
They walked around to many different bubbles.  they saw visions of familiar lands, and visions of places that they didn't even knew existed.
"So much for us being well traveled, Lich."
"Yeah, I don't even recognize half of these places, Stant."
"I wonder what its like on the other side of some of these portals."
"Yeah, like that one under water back there.  I wonder if the whole place is under water."
"What do you mean by 'place'?"
"Well, what if these portals open up into other worlds and dimensions.  Whose to say that the water one back there didn't open up into a world that is completely under water.  Or this one here that looks like a lot of fire.  What if it opens up inside a volcano on some planet where the creatures are all made of fire."
"Good point.  Hey you know what would be funny?"
      "What?"
"If we could find a way to push the water and fire ones together and see which one would win."
"He he he he he.  I got 10 gold pieces on the water one."
"He he he he.  You know it's kind of funny that this place opens up into a lot of different places, but we haven't seen anyone from anywhere yet."
"Well, maybe those portals are like the one we went through.  Tough to find, and even harder to get to."
"Hey wouldn't it be nice if one of these opened up into one of the god's homes."
"Yeah...  What if this IS one of the god's homes.  I mean it would only be proper that a god would have access to all these different places."
"Well, I don't thing they'd need portals to travel anywhere."
"Yeah, but what if they use these to keep an eye on the rest of us."
"Could be, but only one way to find out for sure."
      "Oh, and how's that?"
"Go through one and see where exactly that it takes us."
"But what if we can't get back?"
"We'll cross that bridge when we get to it, Lich."
"Reckless human.  No wonder I always have to come save you."
"Excuse me.  That only happened once, and it was because my sword got melted away and I had nothing but my fists to use to fight my way out."
"Well, I'm still ahead of you by one, Stant"
"Heh, well see who's saving who by the end of this adventure."
"So which one do you wanna take, Stant?"
"Oh, I don't know.  Here, this one looks promising."
      "Which one?"
"This one.  The one with the big moon and swamp grass everywhere."
"You would pick one that would get us wet right away."
"He he he he.  You coming, Lich?"
      "Right behind you."
