Chapter Three - Acceptance
Ash and Misty had no way of talking to each other.
Yet Ash heard from a classmate that Misty is living at the apartment complex east of the
university. Ash and his mom never spoke a word to each other for the past few weeks. Ash
hated the way his mother was too overly protective of him. Misty's sisters went off to go
back to their gym. Ash often communicated with Lily, Misty's oldest sister, and how she
understood how Ash felt. She was going steady with one guy until he left her for someone
else. Lily totally supported Ash and Misty's choice. Her sisters, however, did not. They
thought Misty was still to young to even think about getting married. Actually, it was
jealousy which attacked them. They were jealous of the fact Misty hoped to get married,
while they didn't even have boyfriends. Still, the hard three weeks were easing down to a
communicative state. Misty's sisters came back and Misty came with them. However, that
day, Ash's dad was with them. Ash, did not come home for one whole week. He stayed at a
friend's house the entire time. He never left there except to go to class.
That Saturday, he went to the apartment which was to believed to be
where Misty lived.
"26C, yeah this is the one alright." Ash said to himself.
He knocked on the door, Misty opened the door. Surprised and already in
tears Misty hugged Ash. She cried into his shoulder, saying his name. Ash lifted her up
and kissed her passionately. It seemed as if it had been years since they have seen each
other. Misty welcomed him in and they started to talk.
"So, what have you been doing these past weeks?" Ash
inquried.
"Hiding out form everyone. I don't like it but, I have to,"
Misty sobbed.
"I think it's time we go home and have another talk, what do you
think?" Ash asked.
Misty could only nod. She picked up her coat, went outside, and locked
the door with Ash close beside her. She clung onto his shoulder thinking of only him. She
kept quiet and did herself a favor by only walking silently. She knew that if she said
anything she would have to burst out and cry.
They finally made it home.
Mrs. Ketchum was actually worried that past lonely week. She felt sorry for what she did. Yet she did not like the fact that Ash would be getting , married. And so soon even. She felt petrified of the fact that she would lose the boy she once loved. The doorbell rang and she sprang up to answer the door.

"Ash, you're home!" Mrs. Ketchum exclaimed and she hugged Ash
tightly.
"Am I?" Ash asked in a battered tone.
"Well that's up to you, son. Are you or are you not?" Mr.
Ketchum answered in his deep tone.
"Fine. I want to talk to you about our choice," Ash came in
and sat down.
He explained all the reasons why he felt they had a right to get
married. He wanted to begin a life with Misty. He loved her so much.
Lily stood up, "They should have a right to their own choices. I
think that they should be given the chance to make adult decisions on their own,"
Lily continued on the way she almost married.
She shared a room with her roommate in college. He was very different
from Ash, but in may ways the same. She was very much like Misty then. But she was left
for someone else.
She did not want the same thing to happen to Misty, however, she knew
she could not control ones life. So she helped instead if protested. She would help her
sister anyway she could, even if no one else would. Misty thanked her sister and thenagain
fell silent.
Then, Mrs. Ketchum realized, when she got married her parents alwaays
stood in their way. She had in no way be able to cahnge their judgement. She did not want
the same thing to happen to Ash and Misty.
"Look, I don't fully approve of this but, I will not stand in your
way of anything. I'm going to accept this marriage," She stated.
"So does that mean you apprrove of this marriage?" Ash and
Misty said in unison.
"Not ever, but if this is your choice do it. I will not do
anything to stop you," She looked at Misty.
"Misty, welcome to my family,"

Ash and Misty waited three long months until that ever close drawing
day.
"Only three more months," Ash marked his calendar.
"Three months, 12 minutes and 33 seconds," Ash looked at his
clock. It was one of those days where he had almost no classes. He looked deeply into the
picture of Misty near his bed. Every year he had one new picture to add. It was already,
six.
A few hours later, Misty waited near the lagoon next
to the house. She waited for Ash, even though she was really early. She sat down on the
grass.
"Hi, Misty," Ash spoke from behind.
"Oh, hi," Misty responded with a smile.
"Do you remember that time we slept in the same bed when your mom
was away. Remember, I couldn't sleep, and I came to your room?" Misty asked.
"Oh yeah, what about that night we were in this exact same place,
in this small field. Watching the waterfall." Ash recalled.
"Yeah," The two locked eyes and glanced into each others
eyes. They gazed deeply, and they drew ever closer. Then they pulled away.
"Sorry, I thought I was going to sneeze." Misty said.
"Eyelash, I guess I was dreaming," Ash spoke.
They again drew ever closer. And they kissed.
