A RITE TO PLACE A NEWBORN UNDER THE GUIDANCE AND PROTECTION OF THE UNIVERSE
The following rite is a beautiful method of protecting a newborn baby as well as calling the universal energies of love and guidance to lead her or him through the trials of life with strength and a resolution to succeed.
On a Wednesday morning sit comfortably on the floor with the baby. Place a sweet smelling bunch of flowers beside him or her. Do not burn incense as this may alarm or irritate the child.
Close your eyes and visualise a stream of brilliant white light enshrouding you and your child. Take the child's hands in yours and recite the following:
"Forces of pure white light, spirits of the earth, of fire and water and air,
be here with us and witness my pledge.
I (your name) dedicate this young life to the forces of purity, love and truth.
With peace and love I give over my child to the path of bliss and learning."
Take a flower from the bunch, hold it above the child and say:
"Forces of love please place my child under your guidance and protection,
may her/his path in this life be smooth and may all his/her lessons be learned
with grace and strength."
Kiss the child and enjoy the moment.
Hang the bunch of flowers to dry out. When they are dry wrap them in a white cloth and store them in a safe place.
As the child grows over the years, sprinkle a few crushed petals from the bunch of dried flowers beneath his or her bed on each birthday to call the forces of love to his or her side.
