THE WOLF:
FLAMBEAU, TYTALUS & JANISSARY
These Houses are the war-machines of the Order of Hermes, the magi who focus on the nature of power and conflict, and thus thrive on those very things.  The explosive fire-magi, the competitive strategists, and the (ultra stereotypical) power-hungry and arrogant political magus.  War magi, these are the Houses most devoted to the Ascension War, which many magi of the other Houses only superficially concern themselves with.

HOUSE FLAMBEAU

Ad Mortem Incurite...
"Unto Death We Charge."

Flambeau magick is usually Persian in origin, and with Zoroastrian elements; it is a war-magick of fire and military energies.  Flambeau magi are today the most numerous in the Order, and the least well-trained; they are generally considered the most expendible.  House Flambeau concerns itself with defending the Order and its covenants, with providing backup for attacks planned by House Tytalus, and with purusing the powerful flame of mystic godhood within themselves.

Roster: 68 magi, most of them of Disciple rank or lower, and around 90 consors and acolytes.
        Primus:
Domus Magna: the covenant Val-Negra in the Pyrenees on the French/Spanish border
Sphere Focus: Ars Essentiae, the Sphere of Forces
Secondary Spheres: Ars Vis and Ars Fati
        Allies: House Janissary
Enemies: Houses Shaea and Ex Miscellanea
Common Abilities: Physics, Chemistry, World Religions, Military History, Technocracy Lore, Hermetic Lore,
Common Backgrounds: Avatar, Arcane, and Sanctum; they constantly pursue deeper communion with their Higher Selves, many with an almost religious fervor, and they are well-benefited by the shielding a Sanctum can provide for their often-vulgar magicks.

HOUSE JANISSARY
.
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
"Who watches the watchmen?"

Tres Arcanus Potantus Si Duo Mortus Sunt...
"Three can keep a secret if two are dead."
(kudos to Barghest and Bit Nine)

History: The Janissaries have a history dating back to the early 1700s.  The historical Janissaries were the elite troops of the Turkish rulers, generally young caucasian men who had been captured as children and raised as soldiers with intense bonds of loyalty for each other and for their rulers.  The House became a respected addition to the Order shortly after its formation in Ex Miscellanea in Turkish; it has a history of great success in waging a fanatical war against the Technocracy.

Current State: The Janissaries are bitter enemies of the New World Order, and that Convention is the House's first target in any conflict.  The House wields great power and commands tremendous respect because of its past successes against the Technocracy; many of the House's detractors, however, would say that the Janissaries are no better than the NWO operatives they hate so fervently.  Though the House formally has its base in Toledo, many would say that the Janissaries are the true leaders of the ancient covenant Doissetep; Caeron Mustai, apprentice to the House's missing founder, leads the Janissaries.
.
Janissary magick is that of the mind, and that of scrying one's enemies.  House  Janissary concerns itself with protecting the security and loyalty of the Order and its magi, gaining power within the Order, and executing assaults on Technocracy strongholds.  In this last pursuit they are often found working with (usually leading) magi of Houses Tytalus and Flambeau.  Though the Code of Hermes forbids magickal spying on sodales (Hermetic brethren), many fear that the Janissaries do it anyway.

Roster:  There are 10-12 magi in House Janissary, as well as a few magi posing as members of other Houses, and its consors and acolytes number around 100.
Primus:  Caeron Mustai of Barcelona, Master Scholae, 7th Degree.
        Domus Magna: Toledo
Sphere Focus: Ars Mentis and Ars Conjunctio, the Spheres of Mind and Correspondence
        Secondary Spheres:
        Allies: Houses Flambeau and Thig
Enemies: Houses Tytalus and Ex Miscellanea
Common Abilities: Intrigue, Subterfuge, Stealth, Leadership, Expression, Melee, Psychology, Hermetic Lore, Technocracy Lore, Mage Lore
Common Backgrounds: Arcane, Status, and Avatar
