A date for dinner leads Richard Munroe to the murder of his best friend, private detective Lee Hoffman, leaving him only a fortune cookie as a clue to why. With his last breath, Hoffman swears the lawyer to avenge him, leading Munroe on a quest for vengeance that leads to smuggling, corruption and kidnapping.

Soon, though, the hunters become the hunted and Richard and his newfound allies must launch an assault into the heart of San Francisco's Chinatown. But even if they find Hoffman's killers, will they be able to discover the reasons behind it? And in so doing, will Munroe's dark secret be uncovered as well?
