I have received several e-mail from people who would like to try PUVA, but cannot tolerate psoralen, which is the drug you have to take, orally two hours before treatment. I have been informed that Psoralen may also be applied topically instead of whatever the opposite of topically is. I wish I had known this prior to taking two years of PUVA. Oh well never mind, I hope this helps you before you take the treatment.
I also beleive that Psoralen may be applied by bathing in disolved Psoralen tablets. This also means that your eyes will not need protection for the statutory 24 hours after treatment. Can't be bad.
I also found that eating absorbant foods before the pills helped, especially bread. This will not be necessary with topically applied Psoralen, which I understand is just as effective if not more so.
