Human Cleric
Backstory by David Cacace

Dloran is from one of the smaller towns named Lanu. He has lived there for just about all of his life only with his mother, Lorane, and his father, Dloran Frans. As a young boy, Dloran was a humble boy with very few talents; however, he showed excellent potential and was very alert. His parents thus sent Dloran to Luthien where he would learn at the Gwaydon institute at age 14(He received a scholarship because he showed excellent potential). Dloran became literate and was knowledgeable in the fields of mathematics, sciences, chemistry, and history. His tutors admired him, and Dloran earned their respect from the knowledge that he could learn. As Dloran grew older, he began to understand what the present world was like. At about the age of 17, Dloran returned to his hometown. Here he became interested in the major sect of Noldor- Ethalum. Over the years he attended services regularly, and he soon became the village Shany's helper. Under the Shany, Dloran learned many things in the ways of healing and protecting. The Shany was very interested in the clerical talent that Dloran possessed, and soon he began to tutor him privately to expand his strange power of healing. This is how Dloran to become a Cleric.

About 2 years later, Dloran fell in love with a woman his age that he had spent most of his childhood with. This woman, named Thresa, loved Dloran for many years, but refused to show it until Dloran became an official Cleric. Thresa and Dloran were in love for many years, and it was very clear that marriage was going to come in the near future. Everything in Dloran's life was going very well, and it seemed like nothing could ruin the life that Dloran had built. But life is not perfect, and misfortune arose shortly after Dloran and Thresa declared that they were getting married.

Soldiers from Noldor's government were needed, for disputes between Noldor and its rival kingdom Narog surfaced once again. One fateful day when Dloran was 19, seven days before Thresa and he were to be married, two soldiers came to Dloran's house and delivered some unsettling news.

"An imperial draft has been instituted, and of the villagers in this land we have selected you to serve in the Noldorian army. You must accompany us on your way back by daybreak tomorrow. Any resistance will result in severe punishment."

Dloran was saddened, confused, and angry at this turn of events in his perfect life, but he had no choice. He went home, packed his belongings, said goodbye to his parents. Finally, Dloran went to Thresa's house. He discussed with Thresa about what was going to happen to him for many hours. Dloran and Thresa cried for about an hour, because it was only a week until their wedding. But eventually the time came when Dloran had to leave. As he began his long ride with the soldiers, he turned back to see the people he loved so much, possibly the last time he would see them ever again.

As much as Dloran expected, he absolutely did not like the army. He hated fighting, which he a lot to do of, and eventually Dloran even scored his first accidental kill during training, a memory that he never wanted to remember. But even so through the extensive training he went through, he could not stop thinking about his love, Thresa, and was very depressed most of the time because he could not see her. There were no letters being sent to Lanu at that time, so he couldn't even know how his friends and family were doing. A couple days later, Dloran was sent to his first battle with a group of people he didn't know very well, but it eventually would help Dloran get out of this mess and go the place he loved most, his home. This begins the great journey of Dloran's life...
