The Long Dark Tea-Time of The Soul>
The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul****
By Douglas Adams
Well this book is kinda hard to explain... See it has this woman and a these norse gods, who are running amok... and a private dick, and some penguins and linen sheets. Well if you have read any of his other books (The Hitchhiker's's Guide to the Galaxy)you will understand why I am having such a hard time explaining this. The plot takes so many turns you don't know up from down... but in a good way. I liked it it wasn't profound or life changing but good.
Portion of the Book
She passed the time quietly in a world of her own in which she was surrounded as far as the eye could see with old cabin trunks full of past memories in which she rummaged with great curiosity, and sometimes bewilderment. Or, at least, about a tenth of the cabin trunks were full of vivid and often painful or uncomfortable memorys of her past life; the other nine tenths were full of pengins, which suprised her. Insofar as she recognized at all that she was dreaming, she relizied that she must be exploring her own subconscious mind. She had heard it was said that humans are supposed only to use about a tenth of their brains, and that what no one was very clear what the other nine tenths were for, but she had never certainly never heard it suggested that they were used for storing penguins.
