A trip starts with the smallest of steps, right? Well, in my case, it started with panic over a still-in-the-repair-shop camera (which, as of July 24 is STILL in that repair shop....dang it, Minolta, hurry up with the part, wouldya??). Much scrambling and debating later, I was borrowing a camera and buying a few disposable ones. *sai* Not quite How I woulda liked it, but it's better than nothing, right? Second step, what to bring to the party? Well, how's about a cake?
Amazingly enough, it survived the drive down! I was so pleased. Sure hope the gang at Mirage enjoyed the leftovers. (Well, Don had made the same cake, in chocolate, so we had a bit left over)
Next up...the trip. Oy. Left sunny Nova Scotia, caught the "CAT" ferry between Yarmouth, NS & Bar
Harbour, ME and finally got to my planned stopping point by 8:30ish. Customs let me into the US, no problem (NO
COMMENTS!). Next day, woke up plenty refreshed and ready to roll. Until the very end, I didn't 'technically' get
lost, the highways I ended up travelling on got me where I wanted, even if it was a roundabout route. (We won't
discuss the 'almost running out of gas' bit...).
Anyway, those who know me, know that I'm notorious for getting, well, not
quite lost, but not quite where I wanna be, when on a trip. Whether alone, or with a friend, it's inevitable. "My
ability at getting lost is only exceeded by my ability to find my way back", that's my travelling motto. Took
about 4 extra turns to find the Norwottuck Inn ("Easy on/Easy off the I91"...yeah, maybe for someone
else <G>), but, as soon as I arrived, I knew I was in the right place. THIS is a pic of my room, as I arrived.
Well, technically, it was Don's room by this time, but it was originally mine.

Next up, some fun in the pool. After a bad incident involving a toilet, my foot and a fair bit of blood, I met up with Don, TN, Seven, Don's Mom & TN's Mom. Don, TN & Seven were heading for the pool, I tagged along to chat (and sing, they piped in a local 'oldies' radio station). Don & I left eventually TN & Seven still swimming, as we went into Northampton for some shopping, and my FIRST ever visit to a Taco Bell. Sporks, anyone?
