Civilisation is not actually a war game, it's a board game, but a darned good one.
Most people these days are more familiar with the Civilisation computer games which were
originally based on the board game. Although the computer versions are excellent they do miss
out on the human factor which is a large part of the game.
For those of who are unfamiliar with the game it is a map based board game in which you try and
guide your civilisation through the various phases of history, trying to survive against natural
disasters and territorial wars. The game emphasises trade and cunning above open warfare though
no game apears to be entirely without conflict.
Playing a full game does take many hours, but the time spent is definately worth while.
