My interest in the wargaming hobby began in 1978/79 at the age of 14/15. Starting with the original Dungeons & Dragons, board games, WWII MicroTank and dabbling with Napoleonics in 15mm.

Over the years my commitment to the hobby has waxed and waned but never left me. Only now have I seen some of my ambitions come to fruition after two years of being in Macclesfield.

My Cellar has recently undergone a conversion into a games facility comprising workshop, game room and storace facilities. 'The Bunker' as it has become known is the temporary home of the Macclesfield Wargames Club until such time as our membership exceeds my capacity to serve its needs.

The range of rules, games, systems and figures that I have include Games Workshop (Warhammer, Warhammer 40K and Epic/Space Marine), WWII 1/3000th Naval, Ground Zero Games publications (Full Thrust/More Thrust - spaceship combat; Dirtside - Sci-fi Ground Combat), a plethora of board games (including Civilisation, Elric, Soldier King, Warlord, Shogun, Diplomacy MAchiavelli, The Battle of Nations, War & Peace, Enemy in Sight, Blood Royale, Titan, A House Divided, Gold, Risk, Campaign, Middle Earth Trilogy), 15mm French Napoleonics, and my main period of interest at the moment - 15mm scale Ancient & Medieval battles using the 'De Bellis Multitudinous' (DBM) rules by WRG.

I also enjoy a limited involvement in play by mail games, preffering the strategic, economic, megolomaniac types, at present I'm in games of Kings of Karadon (Hunky Monkey Games) and Cities of Olynthas (Timewyrm). I give all periods a chance, and would like to re-establish my interest in WWII tank warfare as well as finally getting a fast play set of Napoleonic rules that work as effectively as DBM and DBR do for earlier periods.

My only experience of competition games is through DipCon (the Diplomacy Convention at Aston University - in 1983/84) and more recently the Northern DBM League, in which this is my second year of participation.

You can contact me through the club email.
