Ahh, Dark Elves, Darkus Elvenius. This evil little race was created sometime between
-2751
and -2723. The exact date that the race was created is not clear.
Anyway, it was The Witch King Malekith that created the race. (it is actually a new religion
more than a new race). Malekith was the son of the first High Elf king, Aenarions. Malekith
experimented with black magic in secret and the more he dealt with it the paler his skin got
and he went through a personality change. Because of this, many thought that Malekith was
unsuitable as the next king of the High Elves. So when Aenarion died, Bel-Shanaar became
king instead of Malekith.
Of course this made Malekith a bit grumpy.
During the decades, Malekith worked him self up through the ranks until only the king outranked him, he destroyed the kings good name and poisoned him. The only thing Malekith had to do now Was to walk through the holy flame of Asuryan to become king, just as his father and Bel-Sshanaar had done before him. But that was not so easy as he thought. After a bit of Bar-B-Q, Malekith and his followers fled up to the mountains of north Ulthuan, home of the High Elves. Soon the now Dark Elves started to make small invasions inwards towards the country, unfortunately for the Dark Elves the High Elves were to strong for them and in a large battle that Malekith was loosing , Malekith and his sorcerers tried to call upon the dark gods of Chaos to defeat the High Elf army. Thing didn�t go as planed and the sky was covered in hundreds of different colours and giant tidalwaves swept in over Ulthuan. Large parts of Ulthuan was sunk under water and as a last desperate action the Dark Elf sorcerers used their magic to lift large pieces of land over the water (the now called Black Arks). The Dark Elves used these to escape to their new homeland of Naggaroth, The Land of Chill. The Dark Elves have remained there since then and mad uncountable attacks against their hated foe the High Elves. The hat against High Elves will always remain which is a plus when you play against them in Warhammer.
