It was Rome of the 1500s and Aquilla found herself caught in an unrecorded fight for Venice Italy. The Children's Crusade had just occurred and the merciless massacre and capture of the small slaves just happened. Aquilla and her baby sister lived in the sewage infested streets, attempting to pick up diseased scraps everyday for survival. Even though she was but a 9 year old child then, she took her little sister in her arms and they set off together, running for their lives when the raid began. Someone was chasing them, though, and she gave in to inevitable exaustion from starvation, knowing that death would come soon.

When she woke up and found herself in a large villa and saved from death without her sister, she was not only grief stricken, but relieved. She never thought herself worthy of the spoiled treatment she got from then on. The first night, and nearly every night thereafter, a mysterious figure came to her room and told her that all she had to do to stay, was to learn. From the beginning Aquilla had an embedded fear of this man, but eventually learned to like him and even enjoy his presence. Soon she was given a cello and after 19 years of living in this place, Mercutio came again. It was not to talk, but to reveal his true nature and create another evil spawn of the devil. She wished to go with him on this eternal journey.

Years past since her awakening in this new existence, and each day proved to be different and more interesting than the next, but Aquilla was getting restless. She could not just live under Mercutio's shadow for the rest of her life? or death, so she told him this. The next night when she was about to leave, Aquilla found herself trapped in a steel coffin which was nailed shut. Under the ground she remained until now. Somehow it was discovered at the bottom of the ocean, and she was let free, to feed on those in the city they call Ruby Falls. It is an odd age, when there are many more of her kind than there was before, and she may kill all those that cross her path. Five hundred years have passed, and Aquilla is not yet ready to give in to death.
