breathe
To a loved one, far away.
In material distance
Or by death.
Your presence is tangible
As real and as vivid as
Out soul link:
My humble adoration of your spirit,
Our shared version of that unspeakable word:
love
I rose this morning, rushed about
The day began to eat at me.
And then I felt the golden glow
Of morning sun upon my shoulders,
Smelt summer in the air.
Captured close a magical moment
Eternal in its serene perfection
An instant of paradise in a whirlpool
Of madness missing you.
I wandered as the wild wind
whispered through the growing grass,
Hoped to God you saw this beauty,
Prayed that where you stood another
Morning burst its glory down.
Noon rolled around, the furied sun
Battled with the cooling clouds
Played across my begging skin
Warm, then cold, then hot again.
Wished to God you could have that sun.
Then rumbled in the distance brewing
Storm.
Felt the agitated air that
Murmured secrets of divine presence.
I watched in wonder as all
Nature sang.
Today, a holy symphony--
A gift from God, beheld by me.
But, I swear upon my life,
It would have been
True paradise...
If I could have seen you see it
Felt you feel it.
Given you my eternal moment
Given to me in some random package
I cannot comprehend.
So I prayed to God
To let you see it,
Let you feel it,
Let me give you my paradise
Through myself and through my eyes.
Live this moment again and again
Through my heart by way of my pen.
So my love, though far away,
I feel you here, behind my eyes,
By my side.
And if you long to see me smile,
Take this--
My eternal moment, wrapped in time,
Sealed with love.
For knowing that you see this,
Feel this,
Love me...
This makes your absence bearable
Your presence real
And I can breathe again.
