When two worlds collide: Chapter 2

There are two types of darkness in the world, and maybe beyond. The darkness inside, and the darkness outside your body. Right now, Sephiroth was experiencing both.
He was curled up in the fetal position, eyes closed, asleep to what was outside him. He could only see darkness, which wasn't surprising, since his eyes were closed in the warmth of sleep. But he couldn't sleep much longer.
His eyes opened, and he couldn't see anything, not even his hand across his face. The darkness enveloped him completely, so he just sat down to wonder what was happening. He tried to think about what led him here.
"A battle, with my enemy. Only this time, I lose….."
Yes, you lost. And so you died, he thought.
"I died? So I am in the afterlife."
You must be, where else could you go? And don't say the Promised Land, you know as well as I do you have no right to go there!
"The Promised Land. I cannot go there because of my actions. So this must be something else then?"
Something else is right, only what is it, Sephiroth?
"Hell?"
No, you idiot. You would still be experiencing something, not this continuos darkness.
"It feels like Hell. I am bored. I yearn for battle and death, but I cannot find it."
I'm not surprised. You're probably alone here.
"I am alone. I have always been alone."
Yes you have, because of the choices you made and the path you took. Remember how you killed that Ancient?
"The one they called Aeris. She's probably in the promised land now."
Ahead of her time as well. Did you know she was about twenty-two years old when she died?
"Before her time."
She had not experienced everything the world had to offer. Nothing. All she experienced was pain, suffering and death.
"She experienced love."
Yes, she experienced love. But she never had a chance to see a return of that love. She never even had sex. Not even with Zack, the only man who was your friend, and her only boyfriend, whom you betrayed.
"Zack. He is probably in the promised land as well."
Did you ever even think about what you were doing. You were never like this before. You were a once respected General of SOLDIER, a hero, not this murderer. Had you ever stopped to think that this was wrong
"No, I wasn't wrong. The people on that world were the betrayers of my mother. She was the last ancient. She was betrayed!"
Was she?
Sephiroth couldn't think straight. The last question must have been sheer madness, but he wondered about Jenova, who he thought was his mother. There was something deep in his heart telling him she wasn't his mother, telling them that everything was a pack of lies. But he had believed that Jenova was his mother for so long that he dismissed it.
"I was the redeemer for this world, wasn't I? Mother had chosen me!"
His thoughts seemed to give up their persistence at this point. Well, this is no time to just sit around, let's walk around and find out where the hell we are.
"But I cannot see."
"I'll help you."
Sephiroth was startled by the presence of another voice. He stood up to face the voice, but couldn't see anything. Suddenly, a blue glow appeared by his left. He turned and saw a man covered by a blue fire. He wore a long robe of many colours. On his face was white face-paint, and his left eye was surrounded by the face-paint of what looked like a red star. One of his arms was behind his back, the other by his side. A blue ball of fire lit up between them, and surrounded the area around them by about a hundred yards.
"Hello, Sephiroth. I've heard a lot about you."
"Who are you?"
"Hmmm…let me see you for one moment," the man said, ignoring Sephiroth's question. The man's eyes were staring around Sephiroth, who felt rather uncomfortable with the situation.
"Hmm…that's good. From what I can see inside you, you have a dark heart. That's good."
Sephiroth was stunned. Did this man see inside his soul?
"Just who the hell are you?"
"Me…I am called Kefka."
Kefka….nice name, Sephiroth thought sarcastically. "How do you know about me?"
"I am what some people could probably say….a god. I can control the best evil magic in the whole of my world."
"Your world?" Sephiroth asked, wondering if this man was a lunatic.
"Yes. I live in a different world from you. The world you lived in was one of….what's the term….Corporate embezzlement. My world was one of war. Pure war."
He turned to a small statue of what looked like a magical being fighting a knight. "The War of the Magi. 1,000 years ago, Espers, magical beings, and humans imbued with the power of the Espers fought a war that nearly destroyed the land. It took a thousand years to rebuild the world into one of balance. An Empire, which I was a general of, tried to restore the lost power of magic to conquer the world. But in the end, they only ended up destroying it."
"How?"
"Because on the floating continent, where the Espers once lived on the ground, I killed the Emperor, and moved the statues out of alignment. It triggered a magical apocalypse that change the world forever. The world I loved. The destruction I loved even more!
There was, however, a group of people that wouldn't stand for what I did. They entered my tower, and fought me to the bitter end. They now think I am dead."
"So do my enemies."
"But we are not dead! We can come back. I faked my death by disappearing and brought us here."
"So why did you want me?"
"I saw your skill with a sword. That sword you carry, the Masamune, quite impressed me."
"How did you see me. I haven't fought once since coming here."
"Like I said, I am a god. I knew you were here, and I read your mind. I also noticed that you are missing something important. Would this be it?."
He moved the arm behind his back, and brought out a very long, curved, sword. Sephiroth recognized it as the Masamune immediately.
"How did you get that?"
"How it came to be in my possession is of no concern to me. My concern is what you will do with it when I give it back to you." He held the hilt towards Sephiroth's hand.
"Sephiroth, you have many enemies. Especially the one called Cloud. I too, have many enemies. Here is what I propose. Join me, and I'll transport you to my homeworld. I will transport myself to your own homeworld. We will make the planets collide with each other, and merge them together. With our combined power, we can destroy our enemies!"
"And what do I get in return?"
"You'll be able to avenge your mother, Jenova wasn't it? And you will kill all the unbelievers and betrayers in your world, in the name of Jenova, and me."
Sephiroth thought about it. Could he trust this man? But this Kefka had the same ideals of destruction as he had, save for different reasons. With his power, maybe, just maybe, he would be able to avenge Jenova and destroy the Planet. The niggling inhis heart came again, but he dismissed it.
He snatched the Masamune from Sephiroth's hand and slid it neatly through the sheath at his belt.
"I will join you, lord Kefka."
"Good. Find the person called Terra Branford. She is the product of a human and an Esper, and has powers vital to our mission. I want her taken alive. I will seek the one called Aeris Gainsborough."
"But the last Ancient is dead. I killed her myself."
"You do not know the extent of my abilities."
A portal opened from behind Sephiroth. He turned to face the portal, holding the Masamune's hilt with his left hand. Kefka placed a small crystal into his right hand.
"You can contact me with this. Find Terra, and bring her to the center of my world."
And with that, Sephiroth walked through the portal. Kefka laughed behind him. Not a deep, booming laugh, but a shrill, high pitched laugh that would send a chill through many peoples' souls. Sephiroth, however, had lost his own good soul a long time ago.
As Sephiroth went through the portal, Kefka smiled and laughed. Sephiroth was under his control now, and would never know the actual truth about his mother, and his true life.

Something told him to wake. He ignored it. Once he woke, the dreams would all come real. Once he woke he would exist again, and there had been peace, finally, in non-existence. He was sorry that it might be over.
Something told him to wake. He resisted.
Slowly, he registered a dim sensation. Something outside of himself.
In spite of the cold, in spite of the brightness, he opened his eyes.
He could see everything around him, see it perfectly. But he could understand none of it. He was lying on a strange hill made of Metal and earth. Below him, strange mechanical vehicles were removing bits of the structure. They were two legged, and carried one pilot. They had claws on the end of their arms, and were using them to remove the dirt and metal. Suddenly, a voice from below him called up to him.
"Hey, what the hell do you think you are doing?!"
A rather skinny man was climbing up to the perch where Sephiroth was lying on. He stood up to greet the new arrival.
"When did you come up here? You're not authorized here, you know?"
"I'm sorry about this…."
"Yeah right you are! You'd better climb down there before I throw you of this perch…."
Quick as a flash, Sephiroth grabbed the hilt of his sword with his right hand, his thumb near the opposite end to where the blade was. He withdrew it, spun around, and buried the blade through the man's head, straight through the skull and through his brain. The tip of the sword was dropping blood and brain matter onto the slope below the perch.
"What I meant was, I'm sorry about THIS!" He twisted the blade, increasing the hole in the man's head, and then withdrew it from the man. The man slumped onto his front, blood oozing out of the hole where the Masamune had been.
Wiping the blood from the sword, Sephiroth leapt down to find the girl he was looking for.
Terra Branford.
