By Head Crook, Esq.
The next morning, Chun Li woke
up, only to find that Ryu was already up, and he was fully
dressed. He was just finishing tying his red headband around his
forehead. He turned to the bed, only to find that Chun Li was
waking up.
"Morning, Ryu," Chun Li said as she stretched.
The Shotokan warrior tosses a t-shirt at his naked girlfriend.
"Good morning, Chun Li," he replied. "Sleep well?"
Chun Li gave her boyfriend a sly smile. "After last night,
yeah." She replied as she continued to stretch.
"Chun Li," Ryu started. "Can I ask you something?"
"Sure."
Ryu moved over to his dresser and he grabs something off the
dresser. " Close your eyes," he ordered. Chun Li did as
she was told. She heard Ryu walk over to her and she felt Ryu
take her hand into hers. Chun Li felt Ryu slip something onto her
finger. Chun Li opened her eyes and gasped. It was a ring. A
wedding ring.
Chun Li gasped.
"I was going to ask you last night, but I chose not to,"
Ryu started, a smile on his face. "Chun Li Xiang, will you
marry me?"
For a moment, Chun Li was speechless. Then she leapt into Ryu's
arms, sobbing in joy. "Yes, Ryu! Yes I will!" she cried.
Ryu looked in his fiancee's eyes and he gently wiped Chun Li's
tears away. " I waited for so long for you to ask me to
marry you," she said.
Ryu just smiled as he gently kissed her, pleased with her answer.
Chinatown District, 30 minutes later
Chun Li, now dressed in a t-shirt and a pair of pants, walked
through the park in Chinatown, hoping to find her grandfather.
Sure enough, she found him. Gen Lee was going through his daily
ritual: playing a game of Chinese checkers with one of the elders
of the community. Gen was winning, as usual, and the elder swore
in Mandarin.
" Your move," the Kung Fu grandmaster said.
The elder takes his turn. Gen sees that the elder has made a
mistake and he takes advantage of it. Gen makes his move and the
elder turned red with fury. Once again, Gen has beaten him. The
elder began to swear uncontrollably in Mandarin.
"Calm down," Gen said quietly. "At your age, it is
not healthy to rant like that."
Gen was well-known among the elders for his kind words and the
younger people respected him. Whether it was the elders knew he
was a former assassin when he was younger, it remained unclear.
The elder, still upset, stood up and stomped off. It was then Gen
noticed his granddaughter.
" Hello, lotus flower," Gen said.
" Good morning, grandfather," Chun Li replied, bowing
to her grandfather.
Gen looked at his granddaughter. "You look happy this
morning, child," he commented. "Tell your old grandpa
why."
"This morning, Ryu proposed to me," Chun Li confessed.
"And what was your answer?" Gen asked.
" I said yes." Chun Li replied.
Gen nodded. "I'm so happy for you," he said. " You
and Ryu make a great couple. Have you told your two cousins yet?"
"Not yet," she replied.
"Inspector Chun Li Xiang?" a elderly voice asked behind
her.
Chun Li turned around. Director James Chan, the head of Interpol's
Hong Kong division was standing there.
He hasn't changed,
Chun Li thought. Same gray hair and moustache, same black suit.
"Director Chan," she began, "what brings you to
Japan?" Chan cleared his throat. " I have an assignment
for you," he replied.
" I don't work for Interpol anymore, sir," Chun Li
replied.
" I know that," Chan replied, "but it has
something to do with Shadowlaw."
Chun Li's heart froze.
