Chapter 23

After the wolves left Kristin took more time to study Ayanna. What surprised her most was the purple eyes. "So, you're an ancient too." Kristin said as she finally let go of her daughter.
Ayanna nodded. "Yes I am, and so are you, what is the matter?"
Kristin shook her head. "We are of a very rare people, didn't you know the Cetra are practically extinct?"
"No, I have been a servant of the Shin-Ra ever since I was born, and my mother died giving birth." Ayanna replied sadly.
Kristin put out an arm for Ayanna and put her arm on her shoulder as they went into Kristin's house. They would be prepared for the Shin-Ra, they would all have their revenge.

Lacey was again tied to a chocobo, but this time more loosely. All Lacey could do at the moment was hope that Gea and Ayanna got to Kristin. She worried day and night about the girls, but why she would never know. Yes, Gea was her niece, but she felt strange around Ayanna. It is as if we were meant to meet. Lacey thought to herself. Lacey was about to think on the mater more when Rufus began flapping his lips again.
"Well, this homeland of yours is certainly lovely Sheyala." Rufus said, a grin on his face. Lacey again struggled with her hands, she wanted so badly to smack him. "Only my LOVED ones call me that, and you are not among them." Lacey replied, loud enough so that practically the whole army could hear her.
Rufus smiled at the opportunity of challenge. "Oh really? Then why are we bonded? And why on earth did you kiss me of your own will?" Rufus asked, that smile still on his face.
Lacey scoffed at him. "Aye, perhaps I did, but it was just to lure you further into my trap." Lacey said in return. He did not believe her words, but then again neither did she.
Scarlet trotted up to Lacey's back side. "Want me to slap the little....."
Scarlet was cut off by Lacey. "Oh look who it is Rufus, the drag queen."
Rufus laughed. Lacey stared back at the air headed woman. Her long blonde hair was braided back into a plait on her head, and her red eyes reflected the sun light. Her eyes were not mako because she was not a true Soldier, but a swindling Turk who did jobs for money. Lacey spat at the word.
"OK I will be honest "Turk", you don't deserve the honorable name, Turks used to serve justice." Lacey sneered.
Scarlet rose to the challenge. "Yeah like that raven hared weenie Vincent Valentine?"
Lacey frowned. She would not let her talk about the newly crowned king this way. "Well that may be what you think of him, but I don't see you sitting on a throne like him who WAS a true Turk."
Lacey smiled at this response because she was particularly proud of it. Scarlet had no reply so she just kicked the flanks of her chocobo and sped up to ride with the other "Turks"
"Bunch of pigs, the lot of you." Lacey said aloud.
Rufus just turned to her and laughed. Indeed that is what the Turks were, but he missed "the lot of you" statement.
Lacey looked at the sun. It would be two days until the festival and only an hours ride to the city. Lacey hoped Kristin would be ready for this size of army, and at the same time worked at a plan to get out of here.

Kristin drilled Ayanna and Gea in how to run the traps, when to set them off, and how to hide. After a days work they all knew how to run everything. All Kristin had left to do was to figure out what to do with the wolves.
She very well knew that if any of them got hurt Lacey would never forgive her. Kristin was just about to put on some tea when she heard a high pitched howl-she knew instantly what it was. The Shin-Ra had entered the city. Kristin woke up the girls and they all went dashing to the first set of traps and waited.
