Cephiro - Emeroodo's Side
These are the magicians and warriors that have dedicated themselves to fight Zagato in order to free Emeroodo Hime.
The list here is the chain of command that works from the weakest in rank and strength, to the strongest in rank and power.
Puresea (Presea)
Presea is Sefiro's most talented arms maker, and the only person capable of making weapons from Eskudo, the mineral that makes glowing - growing weapons. These weapons grow with the skill of the user, becoming more powerful each time.

Ferio
A swordsmen, and the guy that Fuu happens to be smitten with =^_-= A nice guy for the most part, although a bit rough one at times. He initially befriends the knights in an effort to find the princess.

SPOILERS - Highlight the following text (It's white) to see what's going on: Later, Ferio betrays them in hope of reaching Emeroodo Hime faster. Later we find out that Ferio is the prince, and Emeroodo Hime erased his memory at his request.

Doshi Kurefu (Guru Clef)
The master magic user of Sefiro. He's the first Cephiran to greet the Magic Knights. He is the magical tutor to the Magic Knights and a number of other people.

Emeroodo Hime (Princess Emeraud)
Princess of Sefiro who called Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu to save Sefiro from destruction. It's her prayers and wishes that hold Sefiro together, without her it would crumble into oblivion. In the first season, it's her imprisonment by Zagato that endangers all of Sefiro.

Zagato loves the princess, and her love of him is distracting her from performing her duties as the Pillar of Cephiro. She called the Magic Knights to kill her, and Zagato is trying to prevent that.

Mokona
Most anime these days has a mascot, and Mokona is just that. In the first series, Mokona is the guide to the Magic Knights, guiding them to and fro, and in the form of shaking his head no or yes, he gives them advice as well. He makes them food and provides them with a tent to sleep in at night. I don't like this character, but he fulfills a role in this series.

SPOILERS - Highlight the following text (It's white) to see what's going on: Rumor has it that Mokona is the God who created Cephiro. I can't verify this right now though.

Cephiro - Zagato's Side
These are the magicians and warriors that have dedicated themselves to fight with Zagato. (by their own will or not)

Arushione (Alcione, Alucione, Alcion, Arushyone)
Arushione is the SM character of the series, if her black leather outfit didn't clue you into that. She is the weakest of Zagato's warriros, and the first to face the Magic Knights. She loves Zagato, and does his every wish in an attemtp to win his love and admiration.

Asukotto (Ascott or Askott)
Asukotto is under Karudina's care. He's a young kid who is a beast summoner, and outside of Karudina, his only friends are monsters. Playtime with this boy can be a dangerous thing.

Karudina (Caldina)
Dark skinned Arabian-esque woman, who's Asukato's friend and caretaker. She has a great weakness for money, and would do anything for it, even kill.

Innova
Zagato's right hand man. Very mysterious until the series is almost over.

Innova is dedicated to Zagato beyond believe. He was an animal that Zagato gave a human shape. He believes so strongly in Zagato that he insists he be transformed back into an animal to fight the Magic Knights.

Lafaruga (La Falga or La Farga)
Lafaruga is the Captain Of The Guard, meaning the princess' guard. He's been enchanted by Zagato and is the final and deadliest of Zagato's warriros.

Sol Zagato (Zagat)
The Holy Priest of Sefiro that imprisoned Princess Emeroodo for unknown reasons.
