I've always been fond in reading, and when I was too young to read, my grandfather filled my afternoons with the novel by Jules Vernes.

 Marion Zimmer Bradley, she's a fantasy novelist, most appreciated from women's public, because her leading characters are always women. She's famous for "The mists of Avalon", but wrote also cicle of novels set on Darkover, on internet you can find a lot of places built by her readers which recreate the places of the novel, but you can find more informations on my page about Darkover.
 

 Anne Mc Caffrey: she's a fantasy novelist too, known for the cicle about Pern's Dragon Riders. Here the links to some places where Dragons and DragonRiders of Pern still fly

Anne McCaffrey's Pern

 Mary Stewart: she's' famous for novels about King Arthurs. In her books the main character is Merlin, from his childhood, to the Crystal cave where Nimue shut him.
The last book told about Mordred story, from Orcad's realm to Camelot, from his devotion to his father king Arthur, to the battle of Calmalann, where they died.
