Before you start the game, be aware that you'll need to trade Pokmon with a different version of the game in order to catch all 150 Pokmon. Red and blue games can trade with each other, while the yellow version needs to trade with both. The yellow version of the game does not contain these Pokmon: Ekans, Arbok, Weedle, Kakuna, Beedrill Meowth, Persian, Jynx, Koffing, Weezing, Electabuzz, and Magmar. Ekans, Arbok, Oddish, Gloom, Vileplume, Mankey, Primeape, Growlithe Arcanine, Scyther, amd Electabuzz can't be found in the blue version. Sandshrew, Sandslash, Meowth, Persian, Bellsprout, Weepinbell, Victreebel, Vulpix, Ninetales, Magmar, and Pinsir can't be found in the red version. Porygon is less expensive at the game corner in the blue version than the red and yellow versions. when you start your game, head north through the grass. Prof. Oak will stop you. Once in his lab, choose one of the three Pokballs. I usually choose Squirtle. It's a good idea to choose Bulbasaur if you're a beginner. If you want more of a challenge, choose Charmander. When trying to leave, your rival will battle you. This is the only battle where you won't black out if you lose. If you take Squirtle, he'll take Bulbasaur. Take Bulbasaur and he'll choose Charmander. Get Charmander and he'll take Squirtle.

Articuno is in the Seafoam Islands. You'll have to push boulders to change the current to get to it. Save the game before talking to it, and make sure you have at least 20 ultra balls. While in battle, use an electric Pokmon at about its level. When Articuno is barely alive, play your Pokflute. (It helps weaken it.) Then, keep throwing ultra balls until you catch it. If you mess up, turn you game off and on. Aren't you glad you saved? Zapdos is located at the end of the Power Plant. To get there, go to the field you find just before reaching Rock tunnel. surf on the water until you get there. Go through the mazes. Once again, save before talking to it. Use your Articuno, since it has a good chance of freezing it. Use the same method to catch it as with Articuno. At some point in Victory Road, there's a route you can take to get to Moltres. If you have a Blastoise, use it. Any water type Pokmon of appropriate level (just below 50) should handle this well. Use the same techniques you did with the other two birds. After you beat the Elite Four, go to Cerulean City. Go north past Nugget Bridge, and surf in the river left of it. Mewtwois at the end of Cerulean Cave. If you don't have your Master Ball, use Articuno to freeze it.

Here's a good team for beating the Elite Four. Zapdos (For Lorelei, some of Agatha's ghosts, and Bruno's fighting Pokmon) Articuno (For Lance) Blastoise or Lapras (For Bruno's rock Pokmon and some of Agatha's non-ghost Pokmon) Chansey (one that knows softboiled for healing in case you run out of potions) Moltres (For any Pokmon the others can't cover) Your favorite Pokmon (For getting exp. points. I used this to make my Dragonair evolve.) Cheats Skip other trainers at Cinnabar gym This works on red and blue versions of the game as well as yellow. Simply talk to the machines. I'm not telling you the answers to the quiz, but be careful of tricks!
