Anne McCaffrey's Rules
1. There may not be any use of Anne McCaffrey's characters at any time, in any way. This means you may not have
a persona who is a descendant of Sorka, or the predecessors of Lessa. Her characters belong to her and are
protected under copyright law.
2.You may not write about nor may you have personas come from Benden, Ruatha, or the Harper Hall. This also
applies to the Lord Holder of Ruatha, the Weyrleaders of Benden, and the MasterHarper of Pern. No one may be
related to these people.
3. There are only five (count 'em -- 5!) dragon colors. Gold, bronze, brown, blue, and green. No white dragons
(Ruth was a truly unique dragon!), no evil dragons...I'm sure you get the point.
4. There is no religion or magic on Pern. There is no such thing as ESP, there are no witches or unicorns, etc., etc.
No one from any other world, including Earth, will ever, ever visit Pern. There is only bond between Dragon and
Rider.
5. Dragon names end in "th". You can not have a dragon whose name does not end in "th". Joke names are looked
down on by the BoD (no names such as Death, Puffeth, Darth, etc.)
6. The Impression guideline is as follows:
Golds Impressed by straight females
Bronzes Impressed by straight men
Browns Impressed by straight men
Blues Impressed mainly by masculine gay men
Greens Impressed mainly by straight women or feminine gay men
Monaco Bay Weyr's Rules
1. Ask before you create a ranking persona. If the position is opened and you're meeting your requirements, you can
probably have it, but we BoD are powerhungry. :)
2. If you want to have a Goldrider or a Weyrleader, please remember that your requirements must be met and you
must be willing to work for it. Golds and Weyrleaders don't just fall into people's laps, after all. ;)
3. No perfection! Are you perfect? (I hope not!) Is anyone? Not really. Remember, it's flaws and quirks that make
us love and care about other people (or hate them, as the case may be), so work some into your personas. If you
don't, we'll just have to make your persona quirky for you, and that could get frightening.
4. Okay, you want a firelizard? Who doesn't! But remember that firelizards are a lot like dragons -- not everyone can
have a gold or a bronze, because they're that much harder to come by, so a gold or a bronze flitter is earned, not
handed out. Also, if you'll remember, in all of Anne McCaffrey's books, only Menolly had a huge horde of flitters.
Try to keep your firelizards limited to three per 'sona; if you have a reason to have more than three, you'd best have a
good story to appease the BoD.
5. Create as many personas as you think you can deal with, but remember that you've got to meet your requirements
for each 'sona! If you create a persona and then drop him or her within only two or three stories, the BoD is going to
be upset (understandably), so please think about it before you create a persona. If he or she isn't going to be too
terribly important to you, you may want to make him or her into an NPC!
6. A lot of people want the ability to have HAD (Hearing All Dragons). It is a great responsibility, and the BoD
doesn't want to give it out lightly. If you have a persona with HAD, don't expect that persona to ever become a
person of power!
7. Being a craftsmember involves a very long and strenuous training. If you want a Master Crafter, don't expect your
persona to become a Master before the age of twenty-nine or thirty turns. Most apprentices don't walk the tables to
become Journeymen until they are at least sixteen or seventeen turns old.
8. Strict as this may seem, we have one final rule. Enjoy yourself! Think up crazy plots, write for quirky personas,
and copost with as many people as you want! The point of Monaco Bay is to give everyone a chance to enjoy the
wonderful world that Anne McCafrrey created, so let's please do so! :)

Every requirement is important! Follow these rules when you're writing your stories; it makes the job much easier for our editors and makes the stories much more believable. :)
*Use Pernese language. A lot of modern Earth phrases (i.e., "Cool, dude!" "Rock on!") just wouldn't survive in
Pernese society.
*Spell check all your posts, please. It'll make the editors like you. ;)
*Our club is all ages. Nothing X-rated will be allowed; we'd like to try to keep it fairly clean. (Movie goers, think
PG-13).
Our requirements are minimums! We don't have any maximum requirements; the more stories, the better, after all.
Please title your stories, put your name on them, the location, and date them, as follows:
