======== Safyre Key Creations Mystique : FAQ - by Melissa Koh [safyre@messages.to] - ======== Drafted on: 28.01.2000 Revised on: 20.02.2000 This file is divided into three sections. Section I covers the basics, such as who may join this RPG and other concerns related to writing. Section II deals with copyrights & legal disclaimers. Section III deals with regulations & guidelines to follow while writing Mystique. Section I: i. How to join the Mystique Writers: First, you need to be a member of The Silver Pen ML [http://www.egroups.com/list/uawc]. Respecting Jenni's wishes, we will not be giving anyone the right to write any story based on Mystique unless they're a member on our list. If you're a member of The Silver Pen ML, you have to email both the sub-admins -- namely Jennifier & me for permission. Then, fill up the forms found under Forms and post them to us. When it's been approved, you should receive an email from either moderator, depending who's on-line at the moment. ii. Time Limit: There's a time limit for each writer to produce a chapter. Three months and an extra month's grace for anyone making merry with a writers' block. If you are unable to produce a chapter, inform the moderators & the writer after you. You will then be shifted to the end of the current cycle. As they say, what goes round comes round. Should you fail to inform the moderators & following writer on three consecutive occasions, your name might be removed without prior notice. To find out who's before & after you, please refer to the schedule. iii. Read the Regulations (located in the same file): And try your best to follow them as far as possible. I've said them once, I've said them twice but no way am I going say it thrice. iv. Done with my chapter...now what do I do? Post it to the ML. After it's been edited & revised by you of course, post a copy to the following people: Melissa Koh: safyre@asia.com Jennifier Ding: jennifier_chan@hotmail.com Starspirit: saberjinn@yahoo.com Or post it to the list again. It's probably easier that way. v. Be prepared... For rewrites, redrafting & the like. Jenni assures me that _I'll_ pick on anything that seems in the least bit out of place, but ignore that comment. After all, what's the point of writing if there's no one to offer their constructive comments ^_^ Another questions, problems and little nitpicks that crop up, feel free to contact me _safyre@crosswinds.net_ or any of the other moderators. Have fun writing! - End Section I - Section II: Copyrights 'Mystique' is a role-playing game created by Melissa Koh & Jennifier Ding, under the influence of stress and sheer inanity. However, we still claim all rights to this RPG world. Character designs belong to their specific creators and have little or nothing to do with the admins of the RPG, other than the latter's personal creations. Members who wish to post anything related to 'Mystique' are required to inform Melissa Koh at [ safyre@messages.to ]. Non- members are not given permission to post, reproduce or distribute any related articles or fiction without the consent of the aforesaid author. 'Mystique', however, is link free. Safyre Key Creations is the official host of the 'Mystique' RPG. To link to the main site, please use: http://safyre.tsx.org _or_ http://safyre.ipfox.com _or_ http://safyre.the-power.org To link direct to the rpg, please use: http://mystique.rebelz.org Other affiliated sites that can host this rpg indiscriminately are: <-- White Sakura Foundation --> URL: http://whitesakura.freeservers.com Manager: Jennifier Ding Contact: jennifier_chan@hotmail.com <-- White Sakura Foundation --> <-- The Silver Pen Fiction Archive --> URL: http://www.sng.net/home/spa/index.htm Manager: Created & maintained by Starspirit Contact: saberjinn@yahoo.com <-- The Silver Pen Fiction Archive --> - End Section II - Section III: Regulations Joining the Mystique writers: Criteria: i. Your English Language must of a certain standard. ii. You must be able to keep to the flow of the story. iii. Able to accept commments and occasional rewrites. iv. Able to fulfil the deadlines. Rules & Regulations: i. Each writer is allowed to create a maximum of 3 main characters. 'Extras' may be added from time to time but they must be vital to the progress of the plot. ii. Upon the death of a main character, there should be no revival. A new main character may be create to replace the former, but make sure that the old character stays dead and doesn't resurface because of a miracle. iii. None of the Game Players should be killed. This is sort of imperative to the creators of this fiction. iv. All installments should be written in third-person p.o.v due to the large cast. The only exception is the Game Keeper, who may be written in the first-person p.o.v if the writer wills it. v. Liberties with other writer's characters should be kept to the minimal. If it is absolutely essential to the plot, then please inform the creator of that particular character and obtain permission first. vi. By what we mean 'liberties', it revolves around life & death of a character, the physical and mental well-being and other sensitive subjects including rape and abuse. vii. Each writer is given a three-month dateline to complete his/her installment to accomodate Starspirit's & Jennifier Ding's busy schedules. An extra month's grace is given if the writer faces a writers' block. In the event of the writer being unable to continue the story, or is not free to do so, he/she may 'pass' the turn to the next person on the list. ix. One cycle is completed when all writers have completed their turns. If a writer skips a turn, he/she is automatically shifted to the end of the current cycle before the first person of the next cycle continues the story. x. Each writer is responsible for informing the next person should he/she be unable to write the latest installment. Should the writer fail to inform the next person on three consecutive occasions, the writer will be removed from further cycles without prior notice. xi. Know the limits of your characters. Try not to make them look so perfect that they can't possibly exist. Make them as human as possible. xii. No file is to be less than 5k, and even then, that's ridiculously short. - End Section III - If there are anymore questions, please contact Melissa Koh [safyre@inorbit.com] for further details. - End FAQ - Part of Safyre Key Creations - http://safyre.tsx.org Copyright (c) Melissa Koh 2000.
