As you open the door, you hear a soft chanting coming from the back of the room. Slowly you enter, and as you do, the chanting ceases, the room coming aglow with the light of many candles. The chamber walls are lined with bookshelves to the right, and a number of sketches and maps to the left. The floor is covered in deep, plush carpet, of a dark burgundy hue. Two large, comfortable chairs sit facing each other, with a gorgeously carved chess set perched on a small table between them, seemingly in the middle of a match.
Beyond the chairs, on a section of uncarpeted stone floor, stands a huge table. Carved of a single block of black marble, the table top has runes and glyphs carved around the periphery. Behind this stands your host, still dressed as he was when you met him outside. A roaring fireplace is set at his back.
Looking up from the tome he has been perusing, your host smiles. Quickly, he closes the book, moves around the table, and gestures for you to sit.
Make yourself comfortable, my friend. It has been to long since I have entertained.
As you sit, you notice that your host moves with taut economy, every muscle tense yet relaxed, like a hunting cat. With a flourish, he takes the seat opposite yours.
You must have questions. Well, I have answers! I hope you are enjoying my home. It has taken me a long time to get it to this level of opulence, but time well spent, don't you think?
His smile is infectious, and his voice melodic.
Now, you wish to know about me? Very well. Darken Dhagr'sha is the name I take in this Realm, though I have many others. The title DarkSaint refers to my benevolent but wrathful nature. Using the arts of Magick, I have traversed the multiverse in search of knowledge and power. I make extensive use of the Hall of Worlds, that passageway that opens upon all realities. Many friends have I made in my travels, and a few I have lost....
An expression of loss and pain spreads across his face, quickly gone as the smile returns. He waves his hand in a dismissive matter.
No matter. I came to settle in this Realm, for nowhere outside of Rivendell have I felt so at home. Creating this Tower as a place of protection, I have guarded the outer rim for almost a year. Many are the companions I have come to know. In particular, Lessa Giovanni and her surly friend Caralina, denizens of The Lair, and Captain Dusty Gold, Minister of Rivendell. Rarely a dull moment with these young ladies!
He laughs, deep and sonorous.
Now, I have gathered around me others who are of like mind, and with their help, I have created the Citadel of Lost Souls. A community within a community, this promises to be the greatest of the Domains within Rivendell. It is our hope to provide safe passage and entertainment for those who choose to visit our fair city.
And now, if you would excuse me...
Darken rises sinuously, and bows low.
I am sure you have other parts of the Tower you wish to visit. Please, feel free to stay as long as you wish. "Come freely. Go safely. And leave some of the happiness you bring!"
He laughs again, then begins to fade out of sight. As he vanishes, you hear him mutter under his breath.
Now, where did I put my cigar?
