Shadows of Emotion

In the dark of night I come to your side,
Slipping from the shadows
To stand between you and the world.
I have walked the paths which others fear,
And I know the minds of the demons there.
I am one with the Darkness, yet I hold it back.
For you.
And though you fear to lose me,
You fear to love me more.
For my love is raw, unveiled by niceties.
