Myself

How can I forget what has been done?
When I turned to you, you vanished.
Now you turn to me, saying you need me.
You don't know me anymore.
If you did, you would flee in terror.
The Beast I fought so hard has taken over,
And now I'm different, more complete,
Without you.
So change to meet the shifting tides,
Flow with whatever course they dictate,
And turn to watch them part for me.
I will not change for another again.
I am eternal.
I am myself.
