Sin

If you say to me compassion, I'll laugh,
And say passion is a mortal sin.
If you offer your hand, I tremble,
For I know what that begins.
And if you open your heart to me, I'll weep.
As I know what I can do with that invitation,
And what I've done in the past.
Leave me be, you who do not understand.
Those who do are dead,
Death being the great equalizer.
And do I mourn for those who are gone?
No.
For I know the truth, though I be a fool.
Those who die happy...
Still die.
