Apparantly some crazy women appeared at gateway six months back, said she landed on the place back in the '20's and some bugs- big alien sonofabitches - overran her ship and ate her crew. She said she escaped by blowing the bugs out the airlock and then froze herself until a rescue ship came along - nearly sixty years later ! anyway, th' ICC asks space command to send in some squads of Colonial Marines, armed to the teeth and ready for bear, to recon the planet. | Pulse Rifle- The Colt 41-A pulse rifle is a 10mm pulse action automatic rifle, which has been adopted to be the marines standard personal issue weapon. The rifle has an over-and-under configuration that also comprises of a 30mm pump action grenade launcher. A spring loaded retractable stock allows the weapon to be used in a Carbine format (with the stock retracted) or as a standard rifle, with the stock extended for a greater stability when the person is firing from the shoulder. Smart Gun - The M56A2 is a 10mm general-purpose automatic squad support weapon, effective out to 1500 meters. The pulse-action system employs a free-floating recoil-dampened motorized rotating breech mechanism chambered for the M250 series 10 mm x28 caseless round. The replaceable barrel system is air-cooled. The system is mounted on an operator's harness and slaved to an infrared tracking system. The gun is self-steering on the mount, though firing must be commanded manually. The entire gun assembly masses 17.82 kg. Flame Thrower- The M240 is in reality, a lightweight carbine-format flamethrower. It is designed to be solely used in close combat situations at the squads and fireteams level. The weapon uses a pressurized, ultra-thickened Napthal gel as a base and is ignited at the nozzle burner, and can be used to cover an area up to 25 meters. Once as the target is hit, the gel will stick to the victim and continue to burn up to one minuet. With a sufficient fuel in a standard fuel reservoir for up to 20 bursts, the flame-thrower is considered to be one of the most fiercest weapons in the marines armory, and has even been useful in close combat situations and as well as xenomorph exterminating operations. However, this weapon is one of the most unpopular with it's operators, basically because of the fuel reservoir to rupture violently when hit by some shrapnel or from small arms fire. Sentry Guns- The UA 571-C is a portable automatic weapon that is a defense system which is currently used by the USCMC. One sentry weighs in at 19.6 kilograms and can be assembled in under 90 seconds. The components of the sentry weapon consist of a snap-open tripod mounting, battery pack, breach and the barrel assembly, sensor unit and a 500 round ammunition drum. A microwave datalink connects to it to a command data console. Once these weapons are in place, the system can be set up to 360 degrees, which can be subject to the terrain and other restrictions, it is stationed to be used in small interlocking areas of fire on a quite narrow frontage.
