Astrology as an Oracle

Astrology involves the use of planetary positions at one's birth time to determine potential future events. In early records we find information about certain stars which "wandered" the skies, while the background stars remained in fixed patterns. Those fixed stars evolved into the zodiac; the wanderers were the visible planets. In cultures around the world we find references to the planets as gods and goddesses. The heavenly bodies were imbued with characteristic personalities and their supposed power to intervene in worldly affairs was recorded as well.

For centuries the only people whose charts were read were royalty. In modern times the art has become more commonplace, as computers reduced the formidable chart calculations to simple input/output routines. What remains is the art and science of determining what those charts mean. Qualified astrologers have written volumes about the meanings; the oracle presented here is some of the best text available.

A good astrological reading begins with accurate birth information, including date, place and time of day. Given that, the reading will offer insight into personality traits, physical characteristics, and events which are likely to occur at certain times. It is possible to compare the charts of two individuals to determine compatibility. It is also possible to select the date and time for events, based on desired conditions or outcomes.

The Sun sign astrology in the newspapers is extremely limited in scope. It does not consider all the birth planets to begin with, and it doesn't consider the detailed relationships between birth placements and what is happening now. A full reading looks at the birth time and the present, examining the relationships from many points of view.

As you try the astrology oracle, remember that the interpretations are drawn for personal experience as well as from historical evidence. Yet you reserve the right to make your own choices. This reading is not "you" - it is a possible expression of your being at one point in time.
