Just a few thoughts on the referendum

Why Republicans should vote NO! in the upcoming referendum.

You can see it so I know you are going to ask, Why does a "Republican" have an Australian flag that shows the dreaded Union Jack? I have that flag there because it is the flag of our country. The Country I was born in and the country that I owe my loyalty to. I do not like having the Union Jack where it is, but it is still the official flag of Australia.

Because of that loyalty I am going to vote No in the referendum of Nov 6th.

The Republic model being put forward is not in the best intrests of Australia as a country, or to the people of our country. The Only thing the Government's republic model will do to change the Australian Government is to introduce ANOTHER high paid job to bribe old politicians with. We already have enough of those. Our new president will have NO power. His only job will to be to rubber stamp the laws already passed by the other two houses of parliment. He would have No effective say in matters of Legislation, Foreign policy, Domestic policy or Defence policy. He would however be allowed to smile, wave at TV cameras and tell everyone that the Prime Minister at the time is a wonderful person. Any attempt to do otherwise would leave the Prime Minister free to fire the President with NO chance of reinstatement. The Prime minister would be required to explain his actions to parliment, But his decision CAN NOT be over-turned and he can not be punished for his actions regardless of how little actual support there was for his decision.

The referendum is about strengthening Australia, not about our ties with England.

I also believe in Right of Reply, so if you would like to add something in favour or against the Republic. Email me. I will post all intelligent arguements sent to me with links below.
