Their geneseed was derived from that of the Black Templars. As the Lamenters they had one blue tear as their chapter insignia and a pale blue overall color. The single tear symbolizes the sorrow for the emperor and his eternal suffering and sacrifice.\par \par The Lamenters\rquote homeworld was Lamanus III. Their fortress was located in a mountain valley along the equator of Lamanus III one contintent. Lamanus III is a feudal world just entering the Black powder era.\par The Lamenters\rquote were lucky they were given enough geneseed to man a full strength chapter in just five years.\par \par During their first hundred years the Lamenters\rquote fought in numerous battles against the Orks, Eldar, and Dark Eldar as a supporting force or as a raiding force. At the start of their second hundred years the entire chapter was called out to stop a major assault by chaos forces to take the Modar system, which contained three inhabited planets. Although they won, the Lamenters\rquote sustained 30% casualties.\par \par The Lamenters\rquote then returned home to recruit more marines and repair the much damaged equipment of the chapter. Two months after their return the entire planet revolted in a chaos uprising led by the 2\plain\fs20\super nd\plain\fs20 and 9\plain\fs20\super th\plain\fs20 companies which had been stationed among the people to increase recruits. After destroying the 2\plain\fs20\super nd\plain\fs20 and 9\plain\fs20\super th\plain\fs20 companies the Lamenters\rquote retreated to Lamanus III\rquote s moon Lema. The planet was then virus bombed.\par \par The Lamenters\rquote then call for Inquistor Tolar, asking that he visit in secret. They had him screen all surviving marines for any hint of chaos. All those found tainted were executed and burned. When he was through he was killed and his ship destroyed. It was then reported by astropath that the Inquisitor had not arrived.\par \par The Lamenters then changed their name to the Dark Lamenters adding a second tear for the betrayal of their brothers and the sorrow for their loss. Their colors were changed to black and the shoulders insignia put on opposite arms to signify that they were dishonored before the emperor until chaos is utterly destroyed. All troops that have survived battle with chaos are given a medal of purple with brass. All breast plates were then changed to brass as a constant reminder of the threat within.\par \par The 2\plain\fs20\super nd\plain\fs20 and 9\plain\fs20\super th\plain\fs20 companies have a purple outline around their tears to show of their great betrayal.\par \par Special Rule : Never Break in combat against Chaos or Culr forces ( which are seen as an aspect of chaos since it is revolt against the Emperor).\par }
