Description:
Torm was born a mortal and rose from the ranks of petty nobles to become the
Champion of Rendros, First High King. For decades he championed the causes and
orders of his king. When on a night of cold driving rain he sought shelter at a
small holding lost in the wilds. There he found a woman and her children being
attacked by some brigands, it was the effort of just a few minutes to drive
them off. Later that night when the full band of thieves and murderers attacked
he gave his life giving the woman and her family time to escape. His lifetime
of service and his death serving his ideals brought the highest reward Helm
could offer. How it was done has never been recorded in the mortal realm, Torm
was raised to be the son of Helm, and serves now as the god of duty. He remains
a great figher, serving as the war-arm of Helm. Many cavaliers, paladins, and
other groups dedicated to a code of arms or protection cite Torm.
Clerical Information:
Clericy Name:
Main Temple Location:
Clericy Description: Like the followers of Tempus, the ceremonial costume of Torm is
the same in the field as in the temple -- a full suit of battle armor with an
ornate helm. But while the church of Tempus prefers its ceremonial armor dented,
battle-scarred, and bloodied, the church of Torm keeps its armor in well-
polished shape.
Rank within the church hierarchy is shown by the color tints of the armor--rich,
church-approved shadded inks rubbed into the metal itself. The lowest rank has
a bloodstainned red similar to that of Tempurans, then rising (according to the
local customs) to sunrise orange, harvest yellow, dragon green, and sky blue
for the patriarchs of the faith. The greatest heroes of Torm are entitled to
have a dusky purple polish rubbed onto their armor.
Torm is called "the True" and "the Brave." Because his worshipers are notoriously
single-minded, he is also called "the Foolish" by the sage Zeboaster of Ordulin
(currently in hiding).
Requirements: Wisdom 15, Constitution 12
Weapons Allowed: Same as clerics
Armor Allowed: Any
Magical Items Allowed: Same as clerics.
Clerical Extras:
Priests of Torm may turn undead as clerics. They may also command the undead to
peform tasks, such as guarding a passageway, without endangering their alignment.
Henchmen following a priest of Torm treat that priest as if his Charisma was 18
for purposes of determining loyalty, provided that those henchmen worship (or at
least recognize the power of) Torm.
The duration of divination and protection spells is doubled when the spell is
cast by a priest of Torm. Of course, a permanent spell is still permanent.
Followers of Torm may use the Command spell once per day, at will.
