Introduction

Hello folks!!! If you are reading this guide, it is probably because you want to become a Empath or just learn more about the special Empath profession. If you have to ask me what my qualifications are for writing this guide, I cant give you much. I just made level 5 on April 25. However, I have read enough guides and have had lots of experience watching other Empaths in action. If you notice, lots of the other Empath guides teach you how to create a perfect Empath. However, you will notice that perfect is hard to achieve. Therefore, I have created this guide to help those whos Empath(s) are not going to be the perfect Empath.

For starters, you have to keep in mind that Empaths are NOT professional killing machines AT ALL (some people might argue with this, but believe me, they are not wonderful killers). So, if you want to go around, swinging a broadsword or claidmore and hitting with an AS of 60+ when you level 1, stop dreaming and think about being a warrior. If you want to be able to use a spell and fracture a Mountain Ogres leg, think about a Wizard or Sorcerer. If you want to be a profession box-picker or thieve, try a rogue (some rogues are nice). If you want to have spells and a not to bad AS, try a Ranger or Bard. If you want to make a living by hunting undead and rezzing people once your level 12 (at least), then be a cleric. And, after all that, if you still want to go around hunting with a AS higher than Wizards but lower than Rangers, spells that are not mostly offensive, and to heal others as a good deed, than the profession for you is a EMPATH!!! But, no matter, you should always get friends in at least one of all the other professions (at least I do). Rolling (and for some, re-rolling)

I believe that your rolls (and the placement of them) are the most important factor to the success of your Empath. Always use a full roll. The quick roll tends to give you some high numbers, but they are placed at the wrong places and the way your training is done is also incorrect. When you re-roll, it will list your 10 numbers.

First 3 numbers are between 50-90

Next 3 numbers are between 40-60

Next 3 numbers are between 20-50

Last number is between 20-100

OK, time for the placement of your rolls. If you want a perfect roll to create you the perfect Empath, than according the chart, you will be rolling for several hours (a above average roll is around a sum of 640+). However, a roll that is both nice and easier to achieve would be as follows:

80s

80s

70s

high 50s

50s

mid or high 40s

A 50 would be nice, but you will probably get a number in the 40s

40s

20s-40s (Doesnt matter that much, its going to be one of you "dummy" rolls)

90s

Strength

Affects your Attack Strength (AS), how much you can carry, and how good you can DRAG someone to safety. As an Empath, you need a high number in this so you can actually hit something. Remember, hardly any of your spells are made for attacking

Intelligence

Affects the rate at which you change "field" experience to the experience you get when you type: EXP

Wisdom

Affects how much mana you start of with and how much you gain per level. Remember not to put anything above 90 in this, because you get a +10 bonus

Dexterity

Affects how well you move around, thus affects your RT

Constitution

Affects your ability to resist poison and disease. Also helps determine your starting health points and how much you gain per level.

Charisma

Its just your look. I call it the "dummy" roll. The only reason you might want a high Charisma is for roll-playing purposes

Discipline

Affects your ability to learn. I dont know much else about it. It plays a major roll in your Mental and Physical Points.

Reflexes

Affects your RT and DS

Logic

Determines how much experience you can store before you have to convert them to "regular" experience

Aura

Helps determines your Spirit Points and maybe your mana (it did before). Also helps a lot with your Mental and Physical Points.

Race

Before you choose your race, you have to remember that the race does NOT effect your base-stat. What it effects is your stat BONUSES. This means that a stat with a higher bonus tends to increase faster, and one with a lower bonus increase slower (no stat decreases, I think J ) The race that I recommend highly for Empaths is Sylvankind. If you want to be a field Empath (meaning that you help the dead a lot), you could be a Giantman so you can survive out there and drag them to safety. However, the bonuses of a Giantman are not to convincing to an Empath. But, the race selection is mainly up to how you would like your Empath to turn out to be.

Training

This, I believe, is the second most important factor to the success of you Empath. If you mental and physical points are below 35 (I prefer 40), than you should definitely re-roll. The stuff you train in is too costly to allow for such a low roll. This is how I think the training should be done. Notice that if you should run out of points, read the notes and dont train in whatever. I recommend single in everything I recommend first, and than double if you can. The training is also in order of priority.

Double in SPELL READING, MANA SHARING, FIRST AID, PHYSICAL TRAINING Single in EDGED WEAPONS, SHIELD USE, ARMOR (only train in ARMOR if you have enough points. You can save for it instead)

SWIMMING has to have at least one rank before level 10 Train in CLIMBING every 3-4 levels.

IF you have spare points (which you wont have if you didnt save from the last training), but them in SCROLL READING, TRADING, PERCEPTION

HIDING is fun, but without AMBUSH, it isnt much use

Notes: Double in Physical Training till you max your HP out, than single

Notes: Double in Mana Sharing till you get about 102 in it

Notes: If you want to, at level 0, you only need to train in SPELL READING only once, so you can save up your mental points for something else

Notes: If you can spare it, I recommend getting PERCEPTION, since it makes sure no one is stealing from you

Notes: I recommend training ARMOR till you have a 40 in it, than you dont need anymore because you will be wearing double leather.

Notes: If this is complicated to understand, please E-Mail me back and explain what I can fix. Hunting

Now comes the funner parts. You have just finished creating your character. At this current point, you could have started out either in Wehnimers Landing or Icemule Trace. No matter where you started out, you HAVE to get some maps. These maps will save you A LOT of valuable time stumbling around in the dark trying to find places. Of course though, there are times when it is fun to explore an unknown region. Now, back onto the topic. At level 0, you should NOT hunt at all. If you want to have fun and advance slower, you can hunt. But, at level 0, just visit every location when you type DIR. Then, go to the inn and level up. Then, you will be level 1.

There are many things you can hunt. The easiest thing would be rats. I personally hunted rats till about level 4. If you are in Icemule, at around level 3, you might want to hunt some lesser frost shades at the north gate, if you can get the bless. But, I think it is TOTALLY up to you what to hunt. Of course though, you wouldnt be hunting frost giants when your level 1. You have a VERY great chance of dying. Some popular choices are also goblins and hobgoblins. At the older levels, I cant help you a lot with. You just have to hunt what suits YOUR needs/wants. Healing

I personally do not do a lot of HUNTING. Most of the time, you can see me at various places healing. First, Ill start of with WHERE to heal.

There are tens and thousands of choices for healing spots. The most popular of them seem to be TSC of the Landing. However, I myself dont heal there because it can give you a VERY bad headache. I heal around the North Gate of the Landing, or at the TSC of Icemule Trace. Also, the gash use to be very popular, but it has become un-noded so its harder to heal there now. Also, it never was a safe place. Many higher people might want to heal at Hearthstone Manor. And, if you feel generous, Empaths are needed at the Crypt in the Graveyard. Its just that Ive heard that the Crypt is not noded, so thats why there are so few Empaths there, and so many injuries.

Now, for the new ones, here is a brief explanation on HOW to heal. In order to transfer HPs, you type: transfer . This commend with transfer 5x(level) HP. So, for example, if you are level 4, you will transfer 20 HP. If you are level 8, you transfer 40. To transfer wounds, you type: transfer , where body part can be:

head (covers the head AND eyes)

neck

chest

stomach (it is STOMACH, not abdomen)

left arm (covers both left ARM, and left HAND)

right arm (same as above)

right leg

left leg

back

and to transfer nervous system damage, you have to make sure the person as NO more injuries that you ARE capable of transferring, and use ANY for the body part. If you use ANY any other time, it will transfer the highest wound you can. Then, it will do nervous system damage, then HPs.

Ending

Well, that just about covers my guide. PLEASE E-MAIL me with more tips on what I can add, because I want to add stuff SO badly. Hope this guide has/will help you.
