Themselves

How far can you go to help someone?
Someone that is your world.
Someone that you've given your all to.
And they just don't understand.

When everything you say,
Is in one ear and out the other.
When nothing else to them matters,
Except you.

How do you change their feelings?
And their outlook on life?
How do you stop their hatred,
And turn it into joy?

How can you make them see,
You're not the only thing that matters.
How can you help them to understand
That you're not the only one who loves them?

How do you build their self esteem?
How do you make them believe
How do you open their eyes,
And show them their worth?

The answer to these and all,
Is that you simply can't.
Even though you'd give the world for them.
For the only person that can offer them help,
Is themselves, and them alone.
