Rating: G Category: MSR Summary: Singing and driving on the way to Margaret Scully's with news. Spoilers: none Meant to be a direct sequel to "Your Mother Should Know" The Beatles Files: "Drive My Car" by Christina Shuy cshuy@netcom.com They got into the car after dinner and headed over to Dana's mother's home. Both knew the route by heart, but Dana let Fox drive. In the mean time, she slipped a CD into the car's CD player. When the music began, Mulder immediately recognised it and grinned, singing along as he was wont to do. "Asked a girl what she wanted to be She said baby, can't you see I wanna be famous, a star on the screen But you can do something in between Baby you can drive my car Yes I'm gonna be a star Baby you can drive my car And baby I love you" At that last line, he glanced over at Scully with a very big grin on his face. After all, it was not every day he asked the woman he loved, and he had loved her for a *VERY* long time, to marry him. It was also not every day that she would accept and make him the happiest man on the planet, if not in the universe. Scully took the next verse while Mulder listened. "I told a girl that my prospects were good And she said baby, it's understood Working for peanuts is all very fine But I can show you a better time Baby you can drive my car Yes I'm gonna be a star Baby you can drive my car And baby I love you" Scully had taken that last line in a loud speaking voice to make certain she was heard over the music and the singers. "'Love you too, Babe." Mulder grinned. "ANd no, that is not a comment on your weight." Scully beamed a bright smile at him. Then she rolled her eyes as they hit traffic, and were forced to slow down. "Beep beep'm beep beep yeah Baby you can drive my car Yes I'm gonna be a star Baby you can drive my car And baby I love you" "Beep beep indeed." Scully said, and Mulder laughed. "Only we would run into traffic on the way to your mother's." he answered. "It's an X-file." Scully grinned. Mulder started singing again. "I told a girl I can start right away And she said listen babe I got something to say I got no car and it's breaking my heart But I've found a driver and that's a start" "Fox, you're a nut... and I love you for it." she murmured. Mulder grinned and kept singing. "Baby you can drive my car Yes I'm gonna be a star Baby you can drive my car And baby I love you Beep beep'm beep beep yeah Beep beep'm beep beep yeah Beep beep'm beep beep yeah Beep beep'm beep beep yeah" After a fifteen minute delay on a Saturday evening, they broke through traffic and arrived presently at Scully's mother's house. Mulder knocked on Margaret Scully's front door. She opened it and was not-so-surprised to see both he and Scully there. "Mom, we-" "Hello, Fox." Mulder's mother came to the door as well.
