Direct sequel to the events in "Love Me Do" The Beatles Files: "Hey Jude" by Christina Shuy cshuy@netcom.com Sometime during the night, Dana Scully found herself awake, but only a little. Mulder's arm was around her waist and he was murmuring endearments into her neck... in his sleep. "Love you, Scully... Never wanna hurt you... ever..." he pulled her closer and planted a kiss on her neck. "'N 'm sorry for ditchin' ya." Dana smiled and ruffled Mulder's hair a little. "Love you too, Mulder." Oddly enough, her neighbour was apparently playing music and she could hear it through the walls separating them. "Hey Jude, don't make it bad. Take a sad song and make it better. Remember to let her into your heart, Then you can start to make it better. Hey Jude, don't be afraid. You were made to go out and get her. The minute you let her under your skin, Then you begin to make it better." Mulder. The song seemed to scream his name. They'd had a fight. It wasn't knock-down, drag-out... at least not physically, but between them, it didn't have to be physically. Emotionally was already more than enough. After they'd resolved what it was that had caused the fight, both were sorely worn out, so they'd kissed and made up... "And anytime you feel the pain, hey Jude, refrain, Don't carry the world upon your shoulders. For well you know that it's a fool who plays it cool By making his world a little colder." The whole fight had been about how Mulder almost always seemed to ditch her and go off somewhere, leaving her concerned. Scully knew that there were some times where he couldn't help but run off by himself, but she hated it even more when he'd disappear on her without even telling her first. "Hey Jude, don't let me down. You have found her, now go and get her. Remember to let her into your heart, Then you can start to make it better. So let it out and let it in, hey Jude, begin, You're waiting for someone to perform with. And don't you know that it's just you, hey Jude, you'll do, The movement you need is on your shoulder. Hey Jude, don't make it bad. Take a sad song and make it better. Remember to let her under your skin, Then you'll begin to make it Better better better better better better, oh. Da da da da da da, da da da, hey Jude..." As the song ended, Scully could sense that Mulder was about half-awake now, and humming along to the music coming from next door. "I meant what I mumbled, Scully..." Mulder's voice was low, but there was more than enough inidication that he was pretty much wide awake, as was she. "I'm sorry for ditching you so often." "Just tell me what you're going to do before you do that again, okay? There will be times I will want to come with you. We *are* partners, after all. In most every sense of the term." she answered. "Okay... Since we *are* partners..." the smile on Mulder's face could be heard in his voice. "Wanna pick up where we left off?" Dana laughed. "Oh, Mulder..." -the end.-
