Rating: G, MSR (of course!), Spoilers: None Summary: What better way to start a life together? *grin* The Beatles Files: "Magical Mystery Tour" by Christina Shuy cshuy@netcom.com The guests were dispersing out to the line to see the end of the party. Happiness abounded. The music started up again, and the guests all knew that their hosts picked appropriate music. Especially considering the song just starting was meant to let everyone know that the party was about to conclude. "Roll up, roll up for the mystery tour. Roll up, roll up for the mystery tour. Roll up AND THAT'S AN INVITATION, roll up for the mystery tour. Roll up TO MAKE A RESERVATION, roll up for the mystery tour. The magical mystery tour is waiting to take you away, Waiting to take you away." Dana Scully was still in her wedding gown of antique lace and pearls when the song she and her husband had agreed would signal their time to leave started. She had been in her dressing room getting ready to go on her honeymoon. What she still hadn't decided was whether or not she was going to stay in her dress. "Roll up, roll up for the mystery tour. Roll up, roll up for the mystery tour. Roll up WE'VE GOT EVERYTHING YOU NEED, roll up for the mystery tour. Roll up SATISFACTION GUARANTEED, roll up for the mystery tour. The magical mystery tour is hoping to take you away, Hoping to take you away." 'Satisfaction guaranteed. What an idea...' she smiled, listening to the lyrics, trying to distract herself from her inability to make a decision about her clothing. Then again, she was tired. They'd both been up for a long time already, he moving what remained of his things and she at the hairdressers, and as they'd decided to spend their last night of unmmarried life apart as tradition dicated, neither had slept well either. And they both knew full well that sleeplessness impaired judgement. "Don't change clothes, sweetheart..." he smiled at her. "I think you look beautiful right now." Her husband's voice drifted in from the doorway. He was also still dressed in the tuxedo he'd managed to purchase for this occasion. The sight of him in it still took her breath away and she suspected that would be the case for quite some time. She felt the joy well up in her heart and knew she'd made the right choice... not that there was any doubt in her mind that she had. "Roll up, roll up for the mystery tour. Roll up, roll up for the mystery tour. Roll up AND THAT'S AN INVITATION, roll up for the mystery tour. Roll up TO MAKE A RESERVATION, roll up for the mystery tour. The magical mystery tour is coming to take you away, Coming to take you away. The magical mystery tour is dying to take you away, Dying to take you away, take you away." There was a shower of birdseed, confetti, and paper streamers as they walked out into the crowd gathering to send them on their way to their first trip as husband and wife. "Agent Mulder, Agent Scully, congratulations and enjoy your two week honeymoon." Assistant Director Skinner walked up to them with a small basket in his hand filled with flowers. English Tea Roses. They smelled wonderously beautiful. "Desmond and Molly will watch over your files and cases while you're gone. Well... Desmond will be. Molly's on maternity leave." Molly Richardson Jones was expecting her first child and was just beginning her maternity leave. "Very appropriate, sir." Mulder smiled as Dana took the roses in her hand, glancing at Mulder from curiousity. They got into the waiting limousine and drove off, still in a shower of rose petals and birdseed. "Mulder, what did you mean by 'very appropriate' when Skinner handed me these roses?" she asked. "Ah... Dana... that's a surprise. Besides, I remember we both went to Molly's babyshower, so it's appropriate that she is on maternity leave now." Mulder smiled. "Don't you trust me?" "Not to get into trouble? Mulder, I know better..." Dana teased. "True... but you will see soon enough." he said, reaching over for two champange flutes filled with sparkling apple cider, handing one to her. "Happy Wedding Day, Mrs. Mulder." Dana took the glass, laughing. "Happy wedding day, Mr. Scully." "I like that!" Mulder said, grinning as they clinked glasses. She pulled him closer as they sipped the cider, and kissed him deeply. The limo continued its drive to Dulles International where a plane waited to take them on honeymoon. The End... only for now.
