Rating: G Category: MSR, V Summary: Questions answered, a ring of gold, a dance, and someone has to be told. Spoilers: nope. Setting: a few years in the future. This story takes place immediately after "The Beatles Files: When I'm Sixty Four" The Beatles Files: "Your Mother Should Know" by Christina Shuy cshuy@netcom.com Mulder reached over and picked something up from the table before dropping to one knee in front of her. "Dana Katherine Scully, will you do me the honour of becoming my wife?" Dana smiled brightly, leaning in and kissing him before she said anything. "I never thought you'd ask! Yes, of course I will!" Her eyes and her very soul were shining brightly. Right about that time, the next song started up in the karaoke machine. Mulder grinned brightly before he started singing again. "Let's all get up and dance to a song That was a hit before your mother was born. Though she was born a long, long time ago Your mother should know (Your mother should...) Your mother should know (...know.) Sing it again." Mulder slipped the ring, an oval cut emerald with a small diamond on either side, onto her ring finger. She smiled and the emerald shone as brightly as her eyes. "Let's all get up and dance to a song That was a hit before your mother was born. Though she was born a long, long time ago Your mother should know (Your mother should...) Your mother should know (...know.)" Pulling Dana to her feet, he took her into his arms and proceeded to dance with her, all the while still singing the song. His voice gentle in her ear. She laughed softly. "Lift up your hearts and sing me a song That was a hit before your mother was born. Though she was born a long, long time ago Your mother should know (Your mother should...) Your mother should know (Aaaah.) Your mother should know (Your mother should...) Your mother should know (Aaaah.) Sing it again." Right then, he dipped her, then followed up with a kiss. Memories were recalled of when they had danced just after they finally revealed their mutual feelings. They seemed to do a lot of dancing. "Da-da-da-da... Though she was born a long, long time ago Your mother should know (Your mother should...) Your mother should know (Yeah.) Your mother should know (Your mother should...) Your mother should know (Yeah.) Your mother should know (Your mother should...) Your mother should know (Yeah.)" "Mulder..." Dana murmured. "My mother isn't *that* old..." He looked at her and caught the amused glint in her eye. "I know, Dana... I'm just saying... I think she should know about what we've decided... I'm going to call my mother from your mother's... After all, they both deserve to know." She smiled back at him. "You're right. How about we eat first, though? I have this lovely dinner planned." "Okay." -End?- "The Truth is Out There.
