The Beatles Files: "She Loves You" by Christina Shuy cshuy@netcom.com Fox Mulder walked into the house he lived in. There was something wrong between himself and his wife. She seemed very distant lately, and, as he had occasionally been known to be insensitive, it left him wondering what he could have done wrong to push her away, like he used to do in the past, but not since they'd cleared the air on the matter. His wife had had to leave work early, and he was arriving home on time, as usual. Both their partners understood. As he walked in, the CD player clicked on and a song began to play softly. It had been part of the reason why he and his wife had decided to buy it. It could be programmed to start on a track at any time. "She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah You think you lost your love. When I saw her yesterday, It's you she's thinking of And she told me what to say. She says she loves you And you know that can't be bad. Yes, she loves you And you know you should be glad. Ooh!" 'I hope that's the truth.' Mulder thought to himself, listening to the words. "Wait a minute... I didn't put this CD in this morning..." he mumbled to himself. Still, he listened to the words of the song being sung by the four scruffy haired lads from Liverpool, England. "She said you were to know That she almost lost her mind. And now she says she knows You're not the hurting kind. She says she loves you And you know that can't be bad. Yes, she loves you And you know you should be glad. Ooh! She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah And with a love like that You know you should be glad." 'She may not be the hurting kind, but I have hurt, kind of, lately.' he mused. 'Maybe this is her way of saying "I'm sorry."? Or maybe *I* should be the one apologizing...' "And now it's up to you, I think it's only fair, If I should hurt you, too, Apologize to her Because she loves you And you know that can't be bad. Yes, she loves you And you know you should be glad. Ooh! She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah And with a love like that You know you should be glad." The door opened and he watched as his wife came in the door. "Fox! I'm glad you're home. Did you get my message?" she asked. "What message would that be?" he asked, just as the CD started repeating the same track. "Oh, good, you got the message. I meant it as an apology... and a reassurance." "You put the CD and programmed it in?" "Yes, Mulder, I did. And I'm sorry for shutting you out lately. I just didn't want to jump to the wrong conclusions before I knew for certain." she replied. "Scully, what conclusions would that be?" "We're going to have a baby. The doctors told me this afternoon, which is why I had to leave the office early." Dana Scully (Mulder) smiled at her husband, whose jaw was now practically on the floor. "We're... you're... I'm... " Mulder was babbling, but that was all he managed to get out. Dana laughed, then went over to try and smooth things over, which was a little more difficult. Fox William Mulder, husband and father-to-be, had fainted. -The end...- "The Truth is Out There.
