Dana Scully thought as she stood against the wall and watched people dancing to the music. She remembered when her father had presented her with the tickets to London for her birthday which was also set over Spring Break. She had been delighted at the time, but right now she was feeling kinda dopey. Jetlag always hit her hard, and she had only arrived in England this morning. The music started up and Dana brushed back her hair, smiling at the song. The Beatles were still well loved in Great Britain, even 5 years after their breakup. She glanced down at her shoes and then watched as her friends went out onto the dance floor to dance with their dates. "1 - 2 - 3 - 4 ! Well, she was just 17, You know what I mean, And the way she looked was way beyond compare. So how could I dance with another (ooh) And I saw her standin' there." "Would you like to dance?" a soft voice drifted into her ears and she looked up to see a tall man with dark hair and hazel eyes looking at her with a slight smile on his face. "Well she looked at me, and I, I could see That before too long I'd fall in love with her. She wouldn't dance with another (wooo) And I saw her standin' there." "Sure." Dana smiled, and he held out a hand. She took it and walked out onto the dancefloor with him. "Well, my heart went "boom," When I crossed that room, And I held her hand in mine..." He took her into his arms, but loosely held her. It was more like they held hands and danced. "Whoa, we danced through the night, And we held each other tight, And before too long I fell in love with her. Now I'll never dance with another (wooo) Since I saw her standing there." "You know, you dance really well." the stranger murmured. Dana began to smile brightly. "What's your name?" "Fox..." "Mine's Dana... though you don't look like a 'Fox'... you look more like a 'David'." "That works. I think I like that." His smile seemed to melt a cold wall around his person. "Nice to meet you, David." she smiled at him. "Nice to meet you too, Dana." The mischevious gleam in his eye more than somewhat appealing. "Well, my heart went "boom," When I crossed that room, And I held her hand in mine... Whoa, we danced through the night, And we held each other tight, And before too long I fell in love with her. Now I'll never dance with another (wooo) Since I saw her standing there." All too soon, the dance was over. "Come on, Fox... let's go..." a smooth, seductive English accented woman's voice instructed. The voice belonged to a tall, trim woman who seemed to ooze sensuality. She obviously knew she had the power and used it for all it was worth, especially to control people, though the current subject seemed almost unwilling. Almost as though he were under a spell or on a leash, he obeyed and followed, without another word. "Thank you for the dance, David!" Dana called after him, but by then he and the woman were gone. Dana yawned again and walked over to sit down where she half-dozed until her friends came and took her home. 30 March 1997 Washington, D. C. "Thanks for joining me for lunch, Scully...." Mulder's smile suddenly sparked a memory... something from several years ago. "Sure, Mulder... Ruby's is always fun. Let me make a song request, will you?" "Okay." Scully studied the jukebox carefully and then dropped a coin in and selected her choice. "1 - 2 - 3 - 4! Well she was just 17 And you know what I mean" "Well, David, care to dance?" she grinned at him. For a moment, he froze, then remembered... the song bringing back many memories... especially one dance at a party... in London. "That was *you*?" "It was. Wanna dance?" "Sure." And they did... -end?- "The Truth is Out There. Trust No One."- from "The X-Files" Pursuing a BS degree(Electrical Engineering) - Electronics is my forte!
