#xf-romantics: Channel of Insanity

The first rule is: There are no rules.

Hello everyone. I feel that I should warn you that once you submerge yourself into the culture that is #xf-r, it's unlikely that you'll ever be able to get out again. Just a friendly warning from someone who's been there for over a year now, and is past the point of no return. Way past it, if we want to get truthful, and since this channel is the following of a show whose theme is The Truth Is Out There, that's probably how we should go.

Click here to hear my welcoming message and warning for y'all :D

This channel began as an IRC extension of the XFR mailing list, which is for the people in the X-Phile culture who believe that Mulder and Scully are meant for each other. However, over time, this became less of a channel for the mailing list and more of a channel for things that are mostly considered to be OT. Group therapy sessions go on almost daily. I feel that I must warn you that you are entering a close family group. We also smooze (is that a word?) over other shows, Buffy, The Vampire Slayer and Ally McBeal for example. That's not even counting the roleplays and general insanity that goes on almost constantly. Oh, I forgot the fic readings... how could I forget the fic readings?

Because of the closeness of the group, we often use RL names and IRC nicks interchangibly. The person who is greeted with great enthusiasm upon entering may be called something different the next time their name is mentioned, so it's a good thing to know both, and other nicknames. Y'know... just to keep from getting too confused, despite the fact that confusion is a way of life here in #xf-romantics.

Though, for safety's sake, you might want to try typing !rules when DarkAngel is in the room. Although she does tend to get flooded out by her mIRC program, those rules are a very handy thing to read. They warn you of who to be careful of in the channel, and if they don't, then the members of the channel gladly will. There have been too many bad experiences for it to be any other way.

Eventually, I'll put up an introduction page where the channel members tell you what they think you need to know about them: nothing more, nothing less. However, until that time, all you'll see is mine. Here it is:

In real life, I'm called Teresa, though I take on the IRC persona of FireCat, and I'm an IRC addict. I'm a big soccer fan, and I love X-Files. I hate Bill Scully, I'm a member of both the Phoebe Green Task Force (PGTF) and the Marita Death Squad (MB/MDS). Besides XF, I watch Buffy, Babylon 5, Highlander, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and even Ally McBeal on occasion. I love history, and I live to write anything, from poetry to fan fiction to original fiction. I listen to any kind of music, particularly Amanda Marshall, the Indigo Girls, and Enya of late. Oh, yes, and before I forget, allow me to mention that I have an impetuous character, Storm Austin, who speaks her mind often. Don't pay her too much mind; nobody else does. *grin*

Hope you decide to drop by and check out the channel of insanity. And as they say in that Motel 6 commercial, "We'll leave the light on for ya.

And, as a new addition since the original list closed, we have a mailing list for shippers called xf-insanity. I think the name is rather fitting myself. It's a new list, so we need all the members we can get. The only requirement is that you believe that Mulder and Scully should be together eventually in a romantic sense *grin*.
