true account
TOWER OF LONDON

This blood-soaked site once served as a prison and excution site, and is said to be filled with the ghosts of the victims who lost thier head on it scaffold. Many of the ghosts-men, women and children-are seen walking the grounds, standing at various tower windows or walking through walls appear headless. Most of the time the ghost are walking alone but sometimes apparitions moving in processions have also been seen.
The ghost that is most frequently seen is Anne Boleyn, second wife of King Henry VIII, whom he had beheaded in 1536. Boleyn's ghost appears either just below the room where she spent her last night, walking in front of the Tower Chapel or walking toward the Thames River which runs alongside the Towere. Anne was English and of noble birth. She was a Maid-in-Waiting to Catherine of Aragon and had refused to be another of Henry's mistresses (of which he had lots). Anne persuaded Henry to marry her in 1533 (right after the marriage to Catherine was over).
Not long after thier marriage, Anne gave birth to a girl, Elizabeth. Soon the marriage would deteriorate and after giving birth to a stillborn son Henry believed that God cursed Anne and would not let them have a son. He charged Anne with treason, giving false evidence against her and had her executed at the Tower of London.
Another ghost is that of Henry's fifth wife, Catherine Howard. Catherine was born English and of noble family, in fact, she was related to Anne Boleyn. She was accused of having numerous lovers, and so was beheaded (along with the so called lovers) at the Tower of London in 1542. Her spirit likes to roam in what is known as the Haunted Gallery, that passage through which she ran in terror from her captors and screamed for mercy from her husband on the night of her arrest.
The ghost of King Henry VIII has also been seen. As well as Lady Jane Grey, Sir Walter Raleigh, Countess of Salisbury, King Edward V and Prince Richard.
