Part Six
Jessica Lonchas
MRC Building, Upstate New York
"Ms. Monroe?" a young woman in black and white suit said as she looked at the notes on her clipboard. The woman looked up at the people in the waiting room. "Ororo Monroe?"
"I am Ororo Monroe." The woman saw an African American woman with pure white hair stand up. "You and Mr. Drake, and Mr. Logan have clearance to enter." The woman walked over to them and handed three cards to them. "You have to wear these at all time. The color on the top represents what sectors you can go into. You have level three clearance."
"Thank you," Ororo said pinning the card to her shirt. "We were suppose to meet a Dr. Edwards."
The woman looked at the clipboard. "Aw, yes, once you've gone through the next two security checks a guard will take you to her," she said and walked back to her desk.
"Guards, security checks," Bobby said as they walked towards the first door. "I thought this was a research center."
"It is," Ororo said. "But with men like Sinister and the FOH around it is necessary."
Sinister's Base
Sinister walked into the room smiling. Gambit looked up from the plans and glared at him. "Want t'tell me why you drugged me," he asked.
"You needed rest," Sinister lied.
"Uh-huh, sure," Gambit said. "Well I figured out de best way t'do de job. Need Switchback t'get my tools though."
"That can be arranged," Sinister said.
"Sooner de better," Gambit said.
Sinister nodded and left. It's almost over mi amorRemy said and kissed Rogue's forehead.
"Do you believe that Sinister will send him here Ms. Munroe?" a tall, slim, blond asked. The woman sifted in the seat uncomfortably.
"The professor believes he may Dr. Edwards. Dr. Burnam's research is suppose to be quite valuable to any geneticist," Storm said.
"True," Dr. Edwards said. "There is no need to worry though. Because of that reason we made sure the buildings security system goes off automatically at the use of any mutant power."
"But-"
"Thank you," Dr. Edwards said and stood up. "If you'll excuse me."
Storm watched her leave and sighed. Unfortunately he won't need his powers she thought and walked out to where Wolverine and Iceman were.
"What's wrong darlin'?" Wolverine asked.
"She doesn't believe me in Remy's abilities," Storm sighed.
"What do we do?" Bobby asked.
"Discuss it with Charles when we get back to New York," Storm said as the three walked towards the first security check before being in the outside world.
"Rogue wake up!"
Rogue moaned and lifted her head to see Sarah. She could tell the child was slowly fading away because the edges around her were becoming fuzzy. Then again it could be the sedative taking its affect. Plus her head was pounding.
Sarah grabbed Rogue's hand and began to pull her. "Give me a second child. Mah head hurts," she said.
"We don't have much time," Sarah said pulling her.
Rogue sighed and followed the nine-year-old. The black limbo they had been in changed to a dark alley. Rogue could hear music and laughter off in the distance. Then she saw something behind two trashcans. A little boy not much older than four sat behind them crying. "Mommy," the boy cried. "Where are you?"
"Who is he Sarah?" Rogue asked looking at the child.
"Mr. Le Boo when he was little," Sarah said.
"Remy . . ." Rogue said. Was this why he never wanted ta talk about his childhood. Like Ah'm one ta talk. Haven't even let them know mah real name yet Rogue gently reached out to brush the boys hair from his face. Her hand went through him. She groaned. "Why are ya showin' me this? Sarah? Sarah?"
Rogue turned and saw the girl's eyes grow big with fright. "He's here," she whispered.
Rogue turned to see Sinister by the alley entrance. She then watched him change shape into a man she'd seen before, Dr. Milbury [1]. Oh mah . . .
"Aw," he said. "There you are." Sinister walked over to the young Remy and smiled.
"Where's momma?" Remy asked wiping away his tears with his sleeves.
"Your mother had to go away Remy," Sinister said. "Now come along and let me take you home." Sinister reached for him.
"No mommy told me to run away from you. She said you were bad daddy," Remy said. "Very bad."
"Son," Sinister said grabbing for him. Rogue watched the young Remy throw dirt in his face and run off into the shadows.
Rogue fell to the ground. "Sinister is his father . . ." she said. Sarah nodded. "Does he know?"
"No," Sarah said. "The earliest thing he remembers from his child hood is two days from now."
"What happened to his mother?" Rogue asked.
"She became one of his experiments," Sarah said.
Rogue turned and looked down the road towards where he had run. "Sarah . . ." she said turning back. "Oh mah god . . ."
Rogue could see right through her. "Sarah."
"No. Not yet!" Sarah said grabbing for Rogue. "I'm fading to fast . . . ROGUE!!!"
Rogue grabbed for her but she was gone. "Sarah!!" Rogue screamed. "Sarah!"
Remy looked down at Rogue one last time and kissed her forehead. I'll be back soon chere. I promise, he thought. "I love you," he whispered into her ear. He then turned to Sinister. "If I find out you harm her . . ."
"She'll be fine," Sinister said. "As long as you get the information I require."
Remy nodded and pushed a button on his belt and teleported away. Sinister smiled and looked at Rogue. "Well mother of my grandchild when will we awake?" he asked aloud.
Suddenly Rogue awoke screaming Sarah's name. She gripped the covers and then for Gambit. "Remy," she said.
"He's not here," Sinister said.
Rogue's green eyes went wide. "Sinister," she said she said before a wave of dizziness came over her and she drifted of from reality again.
Sarah . . . Hm, intriguing, he thought as he covered Rogue's body with the covers and left.
