Queen of Diamonds Part 8

Jubilee was the first one to get up and look around. 'Oh shit,' she thought seeing all the angry faces that were slowly approaching the three X-women. "Um, help, hi," she said as she desperately looked for a way out. The doorway that they had fallen through was now blocked by this big, angry, hulking mass of muscle.
By this time the other two X-women had gotten up and were standing in defensive positions next to Jubilee. "Oh boy," Rogue muttered under her breath. "Ya guys are gonna get it later for draggin' me inta this."
The Guild representatives closed in. "Who the hell are you and what are you doing in here?" Rob Fitzgerald demanded.
Kitty and Jubilee exchanged looks. Kitty moved just slightly closer to Jube. "Okay, do you want to explain or should I?" she whispered fiercely.
Jubilee went into her ditz mode automatically and grinned. "Hi, we're new to town and well.... um," she paused here to give all the Guild reps. a really embarrassed look. "You see, we thought that this was where one of our friends was supposed to meet us. Oh man, you guys must be really mad and this is just soooo embarrassing. We must have taken a wrong turn somewhere and ended up here. We're like, really sorry and so we'll just be going now," she lied.
Had Remy not been so angry he would have laughed at the outrageous lie his first student had tried to get away with. Instead he raised one eyebrow skeptically and stepped forward. "Really?"
Jubilee and Kitty's eyes widened in fear but they quickly recovered their cool. Rogue meanwhile was preparing to bull down the Hulk wanna-be guarding the door and make a break for it. Kitty was about to step forward but was stopped by Jubilee.
'I don't believe that this is actually happening. I thought that Mr. Lebeau was just bullshitting me!' Jubilee thought as she gulped audibly. She took a deep breath and then boldly looked Remy in the eye. 'Oh man, are his eyes ever freaky!' Quickly she met
the eyes of all of the Guild representatives before returning to Remy's. "Um, help," she began before her nerve quickly left her as the red and black eyes across from her narrowed. "Eeep, well... help!"
Remy glared coldly at her. 'I 'ave t'admire dat girl's guts.' He stared hard at her. "Rule number one Jubilee, don't ever lie t'me again," he warned her.
Behind him, the other Guild members, held back shocked expressions and snickers. So this was the magnificent Jubilation Lee. Vancouver's representative, Mike Donalds, scrutinized the young thief. "What are you doing here?" he echoed Fitzgerald out of turn.
Rogue stepped up so that she was almost nose to nose with him. "Who do y'all think ya are, tryin' ta order us around like this?" she demanded, her Southern temper rising quite quickly.
Jubilee elbowed Rogue in the side. "Shut up!" she hissed.
Rogue spun on Jubilee. "What is goin' on Jubilee? Y'are the one who came up with the brilliant idea ta follow Remy here."
Remy looked at Jubilee. "Is dis true Miss Lee?"
Before Jubilee could answer, Thomas Smyth stepped boldly up to Remy. "Guild Master Lebeau," he interrupted.
Remy turned to him and raised an eyebrow inquiringly but his eyes remained cold and angry.
"I believe that perhaps we should have a brief conference about what the fate of these three will be," Smyth said in his firm, polite, British manner.
Nodding almost imperceptibly, Remy moved away from the three X-women and towards the table. "What do y'want t'discuss Guild member Smyth?" he asked. The other Guild representative gathered around and mummered discussions started.
Rogue looked at Kitty and Jubilee, at the circle of Guild members and then back at the other X-women. "Alright, what did ya get us inta Jubilee and what the hell is a Guild Master?"
The young thieves looked at each other, at the Guild circle and at Rogue. Kitty looked at the Guild circle again and quickly drew herself up. "We can't tell you Rogue. As much as we'd like to we simply can't."
"Why not Katherine?" Rogue demanded menacingly as she slowly pulled of her gloves.
"They'd kill us," Jubilee said.
Rogue put her gloves back on and glared at them. "What did Remy mean by lesson one, Jubilee?" Instead of answering Jubilee found a spot on her shoe very interesting.
Around Remy the debate roared on. "We want them," Smyth stated only to be echoed by almost every other representative there.
Almost everyone had their reasons for wanting to take on Kitty and Jubilee's training. Remy listened silently to them all until finally he'd had enough. "Non!" he said loudly enough for the whole room to hear. "Jubilation Lee and her friend Katherine
Pryde will be trained by de New Orleans Guild. Miss Lee will be trained directly by me an' Miss Pryde will be trained by another capable member," he said so only the Guild reps could hear him. That quickly put a stop to all further discussion.
"D'accord, so what are we goin' t'do about deir friend?" Lapin asked.
He was interrupted by Jubilee running into the group. "Listen Rogue, I would tell you if I could but really I can't!" she exclaimed as she was chased by an extremely pissed off Rogue who happened to have gloves off.
Remy automatically stepped in front of his student. "Leave her alone. She's tellin' de truth."
"Alright, that's it Remy - if that really is your name. Ah wanna know what the hell is goin' on and Ah want ta know now!" Rogue said totally pissed off.
Jubilee took a deep breath and went her true self. As she did her world faded out and the flood gates from the past opened.
Jubilee's father and his friend Mr. Lebeau were sitting in the living room talking about someone. Jubilee was supposed to be in bed but since she'd figured out that she couldn't sleep, she had decided to go see if her father would read her another story. Instead she was listening to their conversation from the next room.
"So he's on the verge of finding out about the Guild. We should make him take a blood oath," her father said.
"I agree, but can he keep 'is mouth shut after he does?" Mr. Lebeau asked.
Her father nodded. "I believe that he will be able to. We will have to inform him of the penalty of breaking his oath as well though."
Mr. Lebeau nodded.
"Earth to Jubilee," Kitty said shaking her out of her memories. Jubilee looked at Remy. "Um, forgive me for being rude Guild Master Lebeau," she said showing Remy as much respect as she could, considering the circumstances.
Remy turned away from Rogue and looked at his pupil. "Yes, Miss Lee."
Jubilee swallowed and gathered her courage. "Perhaps you could make our friend take a blood oath and then explain things to her," she suggested kicking herself for how meek she sounded.
The Guild representatives looked at each other and at Remy. Remy nodded. "I agree. Dere is one other option," he trailed off.
Lapin spoke up. "She could become extended family to the Guild through marriage."
Remy nodded. Rogue turned white. "WHAT?!?!?!"
"Y'have a choice chere. Y'can marry me or y'can take a blood oath," Remy said.
Rogue grinned. "Hm, how's about Ah go for the blood oath," she said grinning slyly.
Kitty and Jubilee looked at each other. The doorman stepped forward and pulled out a black blindfold and an extremely sharp knife. Lapin pulled up a chair and motioned for Rogue to sit down. She sat down, held her head up high, slowly took off her gloves and stuck her wrist out. "Let's get this over with," she said sounding bored.
Remy reached down and before anyone could warn him, took Rogue's wrist. Both of them gasped in shock. Rogue tried to get loose. "Let me go ya swamp rat!" she exclaimed as Remy's personality started to flood into her head.
Being quite flustered Remy said the first thing that came to mind as realization struck that the knife wouldn't penetrate. "Marry me," he said as he released his grip.
"Y, y, yes," Rogue said in a daze.
Jubilee's and Kitty's jaws dropped. "Did she just...?" Kitty muttered.
"Oh my god," Jubilee responded shocked.
Rogue tore off the blindfold and jumped up, having realized what she'd done. "Oh mah Gawd," she said seeing who she had absorbed. "Ah didn't just do what Ah think Ah did... did Ah?" she asked looking faint.
The Guild members were extremely curious about what had just happened to their Prince. Lapin lead the group and they closed in on Rogue. Kitty was in the process of trying to keep calm and Jubilee was leaning over her newest teacher to see if he was still alive and conscious.
Before the Guild could act, Kitty came to her senses and grabbed Rogue's arm and Jubilee's wrist. "Come on, we've gotta get outta here!" she exclaimed.
She turned and phased the three of them through the guard. They ran out of the hall as quickly as possible without looking back.
When they were sure they weren't being chased, the three of them stopped in a 24 hr. dinner. "Ah...Ah.....," Rogue stammered, totally scared from what she'd done. "Ah can't go back. They'll kill me!" she exclaimed realizing what she was saying was true. A thought suddenly hit her. "One thing on Remy's mind was our basement! He's seen Cerebro! The only reason they want me ta marry him is for information on Cerebro." she babbled.
Kitty and Jubilee looked at each other, with fear written all over their faces. 'Shit! Rogue could have a point!' Jubilee thought as she kicked herself for getting them into this mess in the first place. It was her fault Rogue hadn't taken the blood oath but was married to Remy instead. "I'm sorry for getting you guys into this mess," she said softly, her voice full of sincerity.
Rogue just shook her head. "Ah've got ta go," she said as she turned and left Kitty and Jubilee sitting there.
Kitty jumped off and ran after her to try and catch her. "Rogue! Wait!"
"I'm such an idiot!" Jubilee said as she watched as Kitty tried to futilely
talk some sense into Rogue. "What have I gotten myself into? Am I doing
the right thing?" she sighed as she slowly lost herself in her own thoughts.
