an ode to digital watches

There are many trends and cycles of fashionability when it comes to watches, for years it was tres naff to be digital, and now they're back, but through it all I have remained true. This is partly because I have a longstanding love of all things hi tech, partly because I enjoy the aesthetic of the practical and partly because I never learnt to tell the time properly with a hands watch.

It all started with pre-teen family christmasses, whereupon I would get a new black plastic Casio every year. This started with the cheapest possible with SMTWTFS across the top and a dot under one to show which day it was, and progressed from there. Now I have a transperent databank one, which you can store phone numbers on and do arithmetic with. To me owning a hand watch in the year 1999 is like button flys: it's just perverse.

Basically digital watches rock: get with the new grandad. Just don't use the hourly alarm function, all right?
