{As usual, I just opened it at "random" on the bus home from the library}

From Page 101 -

"I guess there will always be skeptics", I sighed.

"Yup, always gonna be"

"But I don't understand that, the skeptics I mean. No-Eyes, the abilities of the spirit are so beautiful! And they've always seemed so natural to me. I realise they're nothing that can be voluntarily turned on & off like a light switch, but when they're operating they seem no different from seeing or hearing or touching or breathing. And why are these things considered extra senses? That always frustrated me, really angered me."

"Summer no try to change peoples."

"I'm not inclined to change anyone." Then I realised she was right. I possessed a deep and passionate hatred for the unaware reasoning of skeptical people. I didn't actually hate the person per se; I hated their ignorant disbelief. I believed in the paranormal because its workings always came so natural to me. I had always lived with the proof of the thing. It was an undeniable fact - a part of my life. Yet, whenever I came across a skeptic, I boiled inside. I boiled at their "intellectual logic" for debunking it. And I became angry at the UFO skeptics as well. Yet when you've personally witnessed eight or nine of the flying vehicles, some seen reasonably close, you don't argue with the confirmed skeptic - you don't even bother to open your mouth. "No, I won't try to change peoples, No-Eyes."

"Many peoples gonna change without Summer. They gonna change all alone. They gonna see, belive, change."

"If many people will believe in the truth, the spiritual gifts, then will there also be a generealised mass awareness of these gifts in the future?"

Her sightless eyes brightened. "Yup, it gonna be big move to learn. They gonna seek all information, all books 'bout stuff. It gonna be big move to people's awareness."

"That's good, No-Eyes, but I can't help feeling that it'll be sort of after the fact, it'll still be a good thing. The more people who become aware of how things really are, the more spirits will be advanced. I'm glad of that. That's the real bottom line, I guess."

"Yup. Summer no forget 'bout spirit life even. Peoples gonna search in books, in teachers, in hearts. They gonna find spirit truth 'bout after physical death. Peoples gonna believe more in spirit life stuff even."

"Wouldn't that come naturally? If they believe in the gifts of the spirit, they'd automatically see how it lives on after bodily death."

The woman's shoulders slumped with the deep, solemn sigh. "Nope. Listen, Summer. Some peoples gonna be only part aware. They gonna think all spirit gifts be mind part. They think gifts be in mind, not be spirit stuff."

Oh God. "You mean they'll believe it is only a physical sense?"

She nodded sorrowfully.

"And that there's no spirit involved at all?"

"Yup."

This wasn't turning out to be the wonderful lesson I had initially anticipated.

"Summer, there still be peoples who no believe in Great Spirit. They think gifts be part of mind work." She shrugged. "That okay. Summer no worry 'bout those peoples. There be many, many people who gonna believe in spirit life stuff. They gonna be ready to die, they know truth in hearts."

"Then tell me this. Does it look like the afterlife of the spirit will be generally accepted?"

"It look like it."

Her answer was somewhat of a relief although not a great one. "Why does the existence of the spirit remain to be such an ongoing controversy? I can't fathom the scope of disbelief when there has been so much proof. Even when people have been placed under the deep trance of hypnosis and have regressed into past lives, the skeptics still continue to reach down into their ragged bag of logic to dig out an excuse to disbelieve. It blows me away."

She was sympathetically understanding. "We come full circle, Summer. We get back to acceptance here. They not gonna accept stuff they no want to believe in. They got many reasons to no accept. They find stuff too hard to accept, that all."

And I too found stuff too hard to accept. But I had accepted the natural face of life since I was very young. Now that I was older, wiser, I had to learn to accept non-acceptance. It wasn't easy

In the beautiful tradition of the Indian Way, the concept of the Great Give-Away should be uppermost in the minds of today's teachers of new learning. The Great Give-Away is simply the humble giving, the sharing of what we have to offer others. Whether this sharing be spiritual wisdom, enlightened philosophy, life guidance, ecological environment innovations or just plain human comfort to one in need, makes no difference whatsoever. To give freely is the Indian Way. It is the way of human spirituality. To give without expectation of recompense of any kind is the true Indian Way. It is the way of true human spirituality. To give just because that is the human spiritual thing to do is the Indian Way.

{Interestingly, that passage was preceded by a discussion of the exorbitant amounts some people are charging for seminars etc while claiming to be spiritual. "Is enlightenment only for the wealthy?"}

... Enlightenment is a universal entity of itself - therefore it is owned by no one, therefore no one can sell that which he owns not. The blood of the seeker must never nourish the veins of the teacher.

... So many feel so alone. This is a time when all of us, as members of the family of man, must open our hearts and let our beautiful compassion flow to others. We are all drifting in the warm current of life and together we must be as lifeboats for those who feel they are sinking. We must not be fearful to hold out our hands and give companionship along the way. We must not be fearful to touch.

Perhaps when this whole ugly subject of "paying" for enlightenment, simple guidance and/or help really hit home with me was when an elderly Hopi wiseman appeared unexpectedly on my doorstep. At the time I was not home, but when he later called, what he asked me plunged my heart to the ground. "How much do you charge for a consultation appointment?"

I was so taken aback by the shocking question that I was entirely speechless for a few seconds. "Why nothing!" I said.

The man on the phone chuckled lightly under his breath. "Well, you know how much everthing costs in the white man's world," he added.

I sighed. "Yes, but I don't walk that path." My heart was sad at this realisation. "This isn't the same trail," I answered. "This isn't the same one at all."

When I'd hung up, the full impact of his question hit hard. I considered what he said about the "cost" of just talking and it literally sickened me. As knowledgeable as No-Eyes was, as profoundly wise and as intensely powerful as her lessons were, she was the epitome of humility and compassion. How can others, who haven't a modicum of her wisdom and timeless vision, have the bold audacity to "charge" others for their personal guidance? It was a situation that went against everything No-Eyes had taught about everyone being loving members of the family of man. It went against everything she stood for. It went against the precious life and cherished memory of No-Eyes herself.

May peace reside within your hearts and may Truth burn brightly within your beautiful Spirits

I may add more excerpts if I think of it ... {after I read them of course} ... and possibly some links although you could find them yourself with a search engine ...

Okay, here's a bit more -

From the Intro -

There are those who are skeptics. There are those who are doubters. And then there are those who prefer to don rose-colored glasses. To these ones, I have no words; for they have made their choice, though the signs have been many

Yet there are those who wonder. There are those who have gentle stirrings. And there are those who have stepped upon the beautiful threshold of awareness - all on the verge of perceiving that which is there to see. To these ones, I say, open your exquisite senses. Look with fine clarity into that which is beyond and beneath, without and within. In these coming critical times, listen to and heed the directives of your spirits that retain the high wisdom you are just now perceiving.

And still, there are those who know. There are those who, within their tender hearts, have seen, felt and recognised that which is there to see. There are those whose precious heritage has made them the silent preservers of that which is to be. To these ones, I have no words, for they already know the Words - ancient Wisdom words that have stood eternal and pure since they were first given, ever triumphantly surviving the vulgar ravages of time.

From Page 144 -

"I'm not actually attempting to back out. I ... I just don;t think this carryover souls concept will make it yet. it's too new - people won't understand. No-Eyes, ... even I have a hard time dealing with it. I ... I feel so mismatched. I feel like some freak trying to fit in with the mainstream of life. My heart, my memory, my spirit is totally Indian and yet where is my Indian nation? I look at the world and everything in it through the eyes of an Indian. I think I'm the wrong one ..."

... "Summer, Indian nation now full of soft Indians. They get deep into white ways. They forget old sacred ways, beliefs. They not want to remember how to make weather change in blink of eye, they not have interest in the hard work it take to learn and keep sacred stuff strong in their hearts."

"Summer, listen. All this stuff be written long time ago." She waved her hands in the air. "Oh, it not be written down on any paper, 'cause that not be Indian way. It be written on wind. That be ancient knowledge that be whispered by mountains. All truths be universal in all of nature. We not need written words to learn truth. We learn of truth from its source and that be nature."

... The concept was totally new to me and I wondered how many people like myself were living in a mental culture that was totally different from their physical one. I concluded that the past-life memory must be exceedingly close to the surface of the present consciousness. Mine was so close that it broke through the thin veil of time and successfully took over to dominate the present-day traits and characteristics of my personality. It was as if I were straddling the fence of time. And I wondered how many people today were living with strong past-life memories. It was an interesting aspect of the spiritual truths, an aspect that I would've never before considered.

From Page 150 -

"Summer have vision that come on soft wings in the skin of a dream to tell that there be no mistakes made here. Feel the floor again. Feel the vibrations of the silent drums that beat for old days return. Summer, it all gonna come back again, just like you remember it. And when the great Phoenix is flying free, look closely at what he carries lovingly within his clenched talons. It will be a new green leaf, not from an olive branch, but from the fresh growth of the Sacred Tree that will be flourishing straight and strong within the Hoop of Mankind's new Nation."

We remained in deep contemplative stillness as we envisioned the new future. While my teacher's last eloquent words coursed through my mind, a mystical drumbeat pulsed wildly through my being. As my heart throbbed in time with the audible thunder of the returning buffalo's hoofbeats, a lone tear fell upon the worn pine floor - the first tear of happiness that I could finally shed for mankind.

From Page 140/141 -

"Plenty stuff gonna be different in future."

"But the houses, they're all in the earth!"

She smiled warmly. "Yup, they be like Earth Mother. Earth Mother like them there. She like being one to hold people."

Upon closer inspection, I made observations about the houses' new configurations. "They're circular!"

"Yup, they be round to keep unity and energy within."

I was so happy that I must've ;looked like a real idiot standing there grinning from ear to ear.

She pulled on my arm. "We not be done yet."

I followed her to a church of some kind. It was outside in an open area. People were seated on the ground. They had their legs crossed. Suddenly, they rose in unison and raised their arms to the blue sky and gave thanks. They thanked God for the rich earth. They gave thanks for the flowing waters and the warm sun. And they thanked God for each other, their brothers. There didn't appear to be a leader who conducted the ceremonies. They acted as one unit.

I turned to No-Eyes for an explanation.

"They no need leader here. They know what they be thankful for. They pray, that all that be needed."

"We gonna go back now." We drifted away from the earth and paused high in space. No-Eyes pointed down to the rotating planet.

I peered down and saw a world at peace. The beautiful orb slowly rotated beneath a veil of whispy white clouds. It was so magnificently restful, I wanted to cry. But what really brought on my tears was the rosy aura that pulsated from the earth - it was the aura of absolute love.

... My mind was swirling with the beauty. "There were so many positive reversals. I'm not sure which I'm more excited about." I gave them deeper thought. "The new style of housing will mean a great deal to the people. They will bring people into a closer relationship with the earth and the new configuration will retain the people's energies. The endless fields of grains were simply beautiful. But I think I'm most excited about the four-leggeds - they'll finally be free. Their spared lives are what I liked the best. Not only for the creatures themselves but also for the people who will be so much better off - healthier."

From Page 158 -

There were going to be negative reactions to this intergalactic communication. The people were going to question their religious leaders about the validity of the Creation Doctrine. There was certainly going to be a mass re-evaluation. But this too was good because it would bring the people together in a united circle of the truth of the spirit. It would sow the seeds of knowledge and the thirst for truth.

This thirst would serve to awaken the mind's memory of the spirit's unique gifts, of the special senses of the spirit and people will accept the paranormal as another clear aspect of reality. Increased efforts of learning will enhance their horizons to encompass the paranormal in elementary schools. It will be as accepted as the subjects of maths and science are. And it will be a beautiful thing to see.
