Letters to the Editor
I meant to write to you about the first issue, too, but I wanted you
to know I think TMB is wonderful! (: I had such fun reading it. I
think I may do several classified ads for the next one... (: I shall
think up clever amusing things.. (: I'm so glad you do this! It's just FANTASTIC.
(: I love getting to know what all the departments do and everything, too. The Editor responds
XFU Faculty Profile Emile St. Claire
Emile St. Claire is a very good friend of mine. (yeah, her and Jeremiah, what
of it
I was thrilled when Emile agreed to be dean of the School of Interdisciplinary
Studies at XFU. Even more thrilled when she began writing a sports column for
the Magic Bullet Newspaper. (I am still chuckling over her account of our
track team losing to the Law and Order District Attorneys. Who knew Sam
Waterston could run so dang fast?)
Emile is a busy lady, when she is not supervising her staff at Interdisciplinary
Studies
(http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Lot/8254/xfuis.html) she maintains quite
a number of other web pages. Most notably: Aliens Ate My Corn Nuts, Page for the
Emerging X-Phile at
http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Lot/8254/xfiles.html.
This page houses links to her other pages (Noah Taylor, Duran Duran X-
travaganza Pages, and X-Files Dreams)
Thanks to Emile for taking the time to answer a few questions for this
intrepid reporter.
Q. What is your favorite cheesy bad movie? Why? And two, it's sooooo 80's! And anyone who knows me know that I personally
believe that the 80s were the greatest decade ever in the history of man and
womankind. ;-) Grease - puh! I can't wait for the 25th anniversary of
Flashdance! I will be first in line with leg warmers and a bucket of water ready to
go! Q. Do you have a nickname?
Q. What is the most disgusting thing a classmate in school ever did?
Q. If you were on death row, what would your final meal be?
And a champagne truffle - a friend of mine once described them as chocolate
orgasms, and that about covers it. :-D Q. Which do you prefer? Boxers or briefs?
Q. Are you a little bit country...or a little bit rock and roll?
Q. What is your favorite X-Files character (can be a major or minor character)
Oh, and I suppose Scully and Mulder are okay too. I'm kidding! I'm a "shlipper"!
Q. Finish this sentence:
Q. What is your number one guilty pleasure?
My new guilty pleasure in particular is reading the philosophical waxings on
marijuana from the Beastie Boys mailing list - I don't subscribe; Freak No. 2
forwards them to me, BTW. There's a whole social etiquette to smoking the
mad dank that I just never knew about...
Q. Would you ever get plastic surgery? If so, what would you get done?
Reach for the Stars
I stumbled across this "Thank You" note and thought it was worth mentioning.
It's not often that a celebrity acknowledges the impact that the fans have on
their star status and the show. So, cheers to you, Steven Williams, and we
can only hope that we will be seeing more of your character in the future!
"My heartfelt thanks to all of you that have come out to the Expo's. It has
been wonderful opportunity to meet the fans and that is the very best part of
doing these for me. So many of you have thanked me, however I Thank You.
Without you, the fans, I would not be here." Thank you
(Editor's Note: Our dear Mr. X is reported to be involved in a new project co-
starring Pam "Jackie Brown" Grier)
There's a lot of information in this issue, so please read down to the bottom,
you don't want to miss anything! Please note that all dates and appearances
are subject to change, so please check your local listings. Also, all times
are based on my time zone (EST). On with the show!
For all you Chris Owens fans, there's an article in Issue #238 of Starlog
Magazine. Chris was in Redux II, Post Modern Prometheus (he was the great
Mutato) and The End, did I miss any? It's a pretty informative article.
Apparently, DD was instrumental in getting Chris to play Agent Spender. Chris
said his character will probably be around for a lot of next season.
June is going to be a very busy month for x-file sightings. Keep this list
handy. "X" SIGHTINGS - MAGAZINES:
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY #436 - DD & GA on cover, extensive movie info.; SCIFI
ENTERTAINMENT (July) movie info; CINEFANTASTIQUE - DD&GA on cover (June) movie
info; SCIFI FLIX (June) movie info featuring a cool movie poster - 24 pp of x-
file info/pics; BAZAAR (June), review of expo and that great pic of DD in
those black leather pants; ORBIT (Satellite Guide), standard review of show -
pretty good for newbies; BIOGRAPHY (June) - DD on cover; Details (June) - GA
on cover; interview with DD, GA and CC; VANITY FAIR (June) DD on cover ; SCI-
FI TEEN (July) movie info; MOVIELINE (July 98); MOVIE IDOLS Issue #8 (GA on
cover); MOVIE IDOLS Issue #9 (DD on cover); YAHOO INTERNET LIFE (July 98).
X-CALENDAR:
Finally!! Finally!! The X-Files live action adventure game is due out this
month. Let's hope it's easier to use than the XF Interactive Game. If you
don't want to wait, check out a trial of the game through a cd found in PC
Format and PC gaming magazines. The magazines are pretty steep $5-8 a pop,
but I hear it's well worth it.
Here's some harmless/useless gossip. It appears that DD and TL picked up a
pair of piranha. You know those fish that eat meat, they live in many places,
one of which is the Amazon. Okay, anyway, they bought these fish and named
them -- get this -- Lucy and Ricky. I told you it was useless information,
but hey information is information.
If you picked up the latest issue of People Magazine then you saw the article
on Laurie Holden (Marita Covarrubias), Mulder's informant. DD is quoted as
saying that he is "hoping Mulder gets a little closer to Covarrubias." I
apologize to all the shippers out there, but I had to print this. WAY TO GO DAVID:
Duchovny's complaint, as reported on The Smoking Gun web site, stated the star
never delivered any autographed photos of himself to J.P. Productions, and the
photos that were offered by the company did not have his authentic signature.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST:
I'm really excited about the 5 new "official" books including "The Making of
X-Files" which will give the fans a behind the scenes look at the filming of
the movie, which was written by the master himself, Chris Carter. FREE STUFF:
*****Next issue -- I'll let you know about GA's new movie, the new co-
executive producer for the X-Files and the X Dance (that's right - scary isn't
it). There are other x-file sightings at the end of the month, but I'll save
those for later. If you know of anything "new" send me an e-mail at
[email protected] and I'll give you credit in my next article. WHEW!!!! See ya soon!
The Halfway House I am afraid that The Roky Crickenson Halfway House must announce that the
rumors regarding the sirens and flashing lights witnessed off campus last
week are true. Our formerly anonymous "healer", Mr. Smith, mysteriously
'dissappeared' from his room last week. So, the House is seeking a new
group of security volunteers. Training is available at the Holly Studios in
Duchovny Stadium. Stilettos are available if you don't own your own.
Shape-shifters need not apply. As always, contact the front desk with
questions or comments. Results of the First Annual State of the X Survey
38 people answered the survey. Not everyone answered all questions. Numbers
listed are the total votes given for each response choice. There you have it. Send any comments you might have c/o me, the Editor,
and remember whatever you send to the Editor may be printed in TMB, so if you don't
want your name attached to it, let me know. I've decided to now send this survey
out among the Phile population in general to see how representative we are. I'll let
you know when those result will be published. Note: I decided against that.
"Fluke Sightings"
Sorry for the absence of a sports column in issue #2, folks. Due to the
recent re-location of the entire university from Vancouver to Los Angeles, I
was unable to get to a computer until this weekend. ;->
In the second game of the season, this time on home turf, our time fared much
better than last month's trouncing by the Twin Peaks BOBbies. But not much
better. Our team played against Third Rock from the Sun's Big Giant Heads
at the new multi-million dollar Duchovny Stadium, but even the thrill of a
domed stadium couldn't keep the Flukeworms on top.
Flukeworms scored a promising 2 homers in the first inning, but in the 3rd,
shortstop Jeffrey Spender missed a flyball with his name on it. Spender's
error paved way for many more. Team lost to the Giant Heads 7-3.
In a locker room interview after the game, Coach Carter admitted, "It was a
play Spender definitely should have had." Carter promised a re-thinking of
team strategy which may include resorting to benching Spender for the season
and bringing out Flukeworm waterboy Robert Modell playing the field.
"Remember, it's not how you begin the season. It's how you finish it."
MEN: Buffy the Vampire Slayer Hellmouth Hyenas win, with XFU coming in a
catastrophic 23rd.
Phoebe Green is still recovering at the Anderson Wellness Center. Her
condition was made worse by the Unfortunate Fiber Incident emanating from the
Wellness Center commissary. She is temporarily being replaced by Diana Fowley.
We wish her luck... Editor's Note: For those of you that weren't at the Flukies/
Big Giant Heads game, let me recount the most assuredly strange accident that
resulted in the most unfortunate injuries of Miss Green. It seems that TRftS's star
player, Dick Solomon, was at bat when he hit a foul ball. The said foul ball went
careening toward the cheerleader's rest area and, in one of the greatest freaks of
physics ever, completely bypassed Missy and smashed poor Phoebe in the head. She
immediatly crumpled to the ground, unconsious. She was taken to the Anderson
Wellness Center where, as noted in the article, she remains. Doctors are still
waiting for the swelling to go down so that they may perform more tests. Rumors
that Dick Solomon was seen accepting money from several women in camoflage after the
game is uncomfirmable at this time. ---------------------------------- Emile St. Claire

A. Flashdance. Two reasons - one sentimental. It was the last movie my mother,
who passed away when I was 12, and I saw together. What a memory, huh? I
mean, maybe I should lie and say it was Ghandi or Dr. Zhivago or something...
One thing that amused me is that my mother covered my eyes during the strip
bar scene.
A. Nope, never have. Other than Freak 2.5. You have to go to my website to
figure out the joke.
A. I can't remember the most disgusting thing a classmate ever did, but I now
have co-worker who thinks he's still 10 years old and likes to discuss things
like burst appendices and Athlete's Foot in gory detail. Umm... he once
stuck a snotball on someone's desk just for the hell of it - and that was
just a few months ago. Luckily, I'm not located anywhere near him.
A. Doritos, Egg Drop soup and fresh-water eel (as in sushi). After I came back
from a 2 month trip England back in '90, where they have neither Doritos or
Egg Drop soup, those were the first things I went for. I missed them so
much, I couldn't wait - I combined them. ;-)
A. On myself or someone else? Um, women don't really call their underwear
briefs, do they? On most guys, I prefer boxers. I like having something
left to the imagination - and in many cases, it should remain in the imagination.
A. Actually I'm a little bit easy listening. So does that make me easy?
A. Krycek - preferably within veeeeery close proximity to Mulder. And then Mr.
X - love, love, love his voice. *sigh* Don't really know why I never
noticed Steven Williams before The X-Files.
I believe in__________________.
A. That's a hard one. I would have to say myself, first and foremost. It's a
clich, but what I mean by that is I was a philosophy major in college,
which can either lead you to suicide (and that's not a joke) or can lead you
on a lifelong quest to figure out exactly what you do believe in. I don't
think that will (or should) ever stop questioning. When all else fails, my
belief in myself is all I have.
A. The Internet in general - especially because I don't have access at home.
Even four years ago, my friends said they invented the Internet with me in
mind. And now that my websites have started to breed, that's even more true.
Everyone's afraid that once I get a computer, I'll never see the light of day again.
A. Boob job - reduction I mean. Hard to believe in Los Angeles, I know.

OTHER X-FILE STUFF:
(Reprint)
TV Guide Online reports David Duchovny has won a legal battle against a
company selling fake autographed photos of the X-Files actor. A Los Angeles
court has awarded Duchovny $366,000 in his case against J.P. Productions, a
New York-based autograph dealer that was selling "authentic" autographed
photos of the actor for $60 each.
Version D of the movie poster has been out for awhile, but well worth it, if
you can find it. I got mine the other day to complete my set along w/the
Season 5 Promotional Poster (still waiting for Season 6). I used Emerald
Poster Company. IMHO, I think they're very helpful, reasonable and friendly.
I highly recommend them, but that's just my opinion. If you're still looking
for posters trot on over!
Scoot on over to your local Oldsmobile dealer and test drive the new Intrigue.
If you're at least 25 yrs old, you will get a postcard to mail in to receive 2
free tkts to the movie!
Neicee :)
