The compromises I have made with stupidity under the pressure of circumstances rush to meet me, swimming towards me in hallucinating waters of faceless heads. 
Edward Munch's famous painting 'the scream' evokes for me something I feel ten times every day. Everybody else said, if we explained how the nightmare worked everyone would just wake up.

Johnny Barcode is a free form movement of dance masquerading as celestial perfection against human absurdity.  
 Johnny  Barcode was filmed faster than the speed of light, all the subjects were sporadically fired at, with no less than six cameras over the course of  6 years.  
Johnny Barcode made use of 16 mm B&W negative film stock, Super-8 B&W; both processed using homemade development tanks, 35 mm motion picture colour, S-VHS, VHS plus Atari computer image-grabbing for annimation morphs along with letter, word colour forms.  
Confessions of Johnny Barcode at the time of tele-cine transfer with all the above mentioned images trapped in their various film & tape Cans & Cases just before being released into the next stage; -grading, editing etcetera, -weighing in at 17 kilos.  
 

Johnny Barcode amounted to 3 hours of wild-footage, after over 6 months video-jamming, e.g. half screens, reversals, super-impositions, solarisations, slow-motions, zoom ups & speeding five times the normal frame speeds in parts. Confessions was scaled down into a video approx 43 minutes 23 seconds and zero point five of one kilogram in weight.
  
The Confessions of Johnny Barcode colour-wise is predominantly red.Marsian Red,Male Force,the blood of this Movie.

Johnny Barcode is political phantasy, parts of which were unintentionally filmed around areas, haunted atmospheres featured in the riot scenes of the classic Fuckland City located NZ film 'Sleeping Dogs' . The entire crew & cast were booted out of the airport grounds, swooped by navy choppers, interrogated, escorted back on the line toward towns,"You're not Normal." piped up one blue shield ol' Sarge from Bugger the Queen's best street filth gang. "This area is for NoRmAl people."  A large concrete building downtown was broken into for a rooftop film-sequence. Steel fences were erected around the side of a bank building they tried to stop us filming for over 7 and a half years of shooting. Confessions of Johnny Barcode was seen through a view-finder in over 52  outside locations with a cast of  333 in front of the tripods and palms that held cameras. Film actors,subjects, slaves are referred to as Barcotronics.
   



The Confessions of Johnny Barcode is random visual structuring created by Space-Time mesmerizing explorations which surf on the dark side of late 20th Century Mayhem.

Within the church of civilisation there are conservative liberalists who's one contribution is that sex is Sin and man is an infallibility. This is an issue of sufficient importance to warrant a violation of individual liberty, which has nothing to do with absolute truth or authority. THEE religion of civilisation welcomes the man who supports the guard dogs of the status quo, whom is paid only the standard miserable pittance of masculine creation whilst subject to the insults and orders of sacred social and political creeds and dogmas, such is this charity of the fascist church of Civilisation.
 


Confessions of Johnny Barcode is perhaps the only film in Aotearoa New Zealand history to be not funded by NZ On Air,  Creative NZ Film Commission or any other  tentacles connected to the body of the NZ government. Funding for this movie came from myself getting a job as a commercial fisherman on the high seas, for which to start off with I had an enormous fear and the rest I gratefully acknowledge came from a lesbian couple whom donated a cash fund for the filmer to exchange some of his sperm. Artificially inseminated of course, yeah, of course. They have a Child. I have a film.
 
Surreal and Enigmatic, Le Confessions of Johnny Barcode has all the makings of a major Cult Classic. The cast is superb, An impeccable ensemble, the story is sensational & fantastic.  The Confessions Of  Johnny Barcode is flashy for those in need of a tonic, The Confessions Of Johnny Barcode is unabashedly brainfood.

 In filming just like music variety is subdued possibly by professional training. At the top of the pyramid. The director of Film, in music's case the  composer. Within this hierarchy of film next, and with fewer freedoms comes the director of photography. To increase the reliability of everyone to be perfect transmitters everyone's natural variety is subdued. So no-one on the set is required to make not even the smallest innovations.
 
  The crew operates accurately as an organisation with the feel of a well functioning machine. But its predictably for one class of tasks. That is not adaptive. It is not self-stabilizing and does not easily assimilate change or novel environmental co-ordination.

Videography

The structure of making films through professional training
& hierarchy governs the behaviour of film. The behaviour & formula for making films must be changed. First by changing its structure. An activity which changes the procedural and structural level of film has far greater social significance than explicitly political messages. Anything that creates change that encourages surrender in the viewer, be it questioning codes which suggest different forms of personal relationships as to how even the process of the film comes to be in its making which in Confessions Of  Johnny Barcode -an undoing perhaps of the "Normal" or asexual accepted way, which is a political statement in itself.
   



In a way, the above way, I can get to be myself, and part of the greater flow of things, and not the centre of the world.  
A Hollywood style budget would impress on my fellow earthlings just the sort of hyperbole attitude they themselves would unfortunately believe.

 
I want film to have a perceptual drift, so at times you're not sure what you're meant to be looking at.
